Title: Symptons
Post by: CraiGDaniel on December 01, 2011, 10:11:20 AM
Okkk so last few days having some issues but not sure what the problem is???

First sympton is first gear is quite hard to get into from neutral and nuetral is hard to find from 1st (can't find until bike is completely stopped)

Second sympton is their is a knocking sound from the front left side of the engine (next to sprocket cover) the knocking is louder at low rpms and there is a substantial knock when the clutch is first pulled in and then whe it's released (this knock continues even when engine is OFF.) Rolled the bike down the hill and still could hear it, just not as loud.)

Third sympton is sometimes from first the bike will slip into neutral, rarely happens but does on occasion and sometimes when going from second to first the gears make a horrible grind sound like it's clicking really fast then i have to push it down again to get into first.

Any ideas? Where do i need to start looking/taking things apart?

Normally I would say, your 2nd to 1st issues are probably related to trying to get into that gear at too high a speed. Then I'd ask about your oil and oil level. But you say it is all related to a horrible knocking sound. So, have a read of this thread to get you going http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=58302.0

neutral is between 1st and 2nd. you can put your bike in neutral from second or first by lightly taping the pedal instead of pushing it all the way down like you would when you are shifting gears.

as far as bike going in neutral on its own... mine does that from time to time but mostly when i come to a stop, just wait until you come to a slow speed (or stop it preferably ) before you shift down or up. or you will grind your gears..

my advice improve your riding techniques... i know i had to and still do lol

as far as knocking sound.. no idea dude
