Title: exhaust and jet advice
Post by: madhatter on November 28, 2003, 05:33:22 PM
:)  yes i know another jet and exhaust question.
i am putting a tl1000 can at high level like the one on pantablo's page ( r1 seat fit ) and will be using std headers with extended pipe & std filter, will 127.5 main & 40 pilot be ok ?
also what do you class as katana ? gsxf/rf ? as i beleive stearing stem and clamps are the same on selected years.
any info would be welcome :)  :thumb:
will i need to shim needle and alter mixture ?  :)

katana is the GSX model.

Bandit is GSF

RF is ...RF.

You're on your own with the jetting though. I'd suspect you could use the info posted regarding jetting for a slip on, since you arent changing the air filters or the header but will require you to fiddle with it to get it right since no one knows exacly how different the exhaust flow is between the TL and the stocker.

Are you putting a stock TL can on? One can weighs about 9 pounds! If it's an aftermarket then it will weigh much less.

I have a TLR, that why I was asking. I have a couple of M4 cans from a SV I was wanting to be able to use as crash spares. Once you have the header fabricated, it would be great to see what all was required.

On my GS, I have 92 katana forks and triples. Not sure about what is required for the swap. Probably just swaping the stems. JamesG would know for sure, it was his bike before. Don't forget about all the other parts required...clip-ons, axle & spacers, brake calipers, brake lines, dual rotors and not sure if the stock master cylinder is big enough for dual rotors. Mine has a GSXR master cylinder. You dont have to run both rotors, but the braking feel is much better. Luckily the front wheels are the same.
