Title: pablo on a speed four?
Post by: pantablo on November 28, 2003, 10:59:52 PM
might be...local Triumph dealer has them, NEW for $5600 (that's after rebates though-but still)!!

OOh, this creates a dilema.

[CJ-its the O.C. Triumph dealer that's blowing them out., I think I can get the same deal at other dealerships though, because of the rebates].

Oh if only I had been 'preparing' my wife for this...

Are you serious :o   Thats danm cheap.  Thats $5600 OTD???

Hey despite Truimph's reliability issues I'd buy one for that kind of money.  Can you make a deal fr two and have one available for PU in Mass?  I'll take orange and do thay accept visa?

John - give the dealer in Somerville a call.  A friend of a friend "stole" a sport tourer (sprint ST, full fairing & hard bags) from them a few months back.  Triumphs aren't selling well at all in this area, and I've seen crazy deals on all of them.  Didn't they drop their MSRP by about 1k on ALL their bikes before they started this "rebate" program?
That said, the Speed 4 doesn't have the cool single-side swingarm found on the Speed Triple & other triumph models.  (At least I think it has a standard 2-sided swingarm)

Sadly the 4 doesn't have a single sided swing arm but at $600 more than a GS500 and about 90hp and bas ass looks it would be hard to resist.  But then Do I want to shell out $5600 on another bike AND what to do with the zx6R and the z1000 and no I don't have room for all 3 :o

Too bad Triumph had such a bad reputation with reliability and rightfully so.  But the 4 has been around for a while and I haven't heard the grumbling from owners like the triple.  And finally the biggest complaint about the 4 was the FI wich seems to be better now.

$5600 is not OTD but at that price you could easily get OTD for less than MSRP. I think they're come a long way from their reliability issues and even though their FI is still a bit twitchy at 1/8-1/4 throttle (or something like that) this too has been all but eliminated. C.J. is extremely happy with the RT he bought 6-9 months ago, also at a great discount.

If I were ANYWHERE near a position to buy a bike I would have gone down there this weekend and bought it.

Oh, and the only colors they're selling at this price is the green-fine by me.

Take one for a test ride and give us a review :)

OC Triumph, do you mean Orange County Triumph?  ...the one in Santa Ana?  When I called that dealer they said no freight or setup charges.  Its just tax, license, doc

Try to take pics of the colors (black please) if you do go to check them out :).  I still haven't seen a real world pic of a black one.  Blah, they only had the yellow one at the Cycle World show.
