Title: Free- front brake caliper and hose
Post by: Big Rich on December 07, 2011, 09:09:03 PM
Here's the scoop: I was on ebay looking for a master cylinder and the cheapest one was attached to a caliper. I'm away from the garage right now so I can't take a pic of it, but from memory I want to say it needs rebuilt. Want it? Pay shipping and it's yours.

It really depends on the year. 97 plus calipers are an upgrade for older model bikes. If you have the new style part, really, someone should jump on it. Otherwise, there are lots of old GS500 calipers floating around, and it's not worth the effort to swap one with possibly questionable seals unless you want a spare to rebuild before installing.

Brake line isn't worth much unless it's from a very new bike. Service manual calls for a fresh brakeline every 4 years, and the people who obey that usually go SS anyway. :)

The 97+ callipers have two pistons of the same size. Older calipers have a large and small piston. So, let us know. :)

IIRC, it's the older style caliper (2 different size pistons). If I'm wrong, I'll edit this post. And the hose was kind of a joke since I am too lazy to remove it yet.
