So, I really need a thickness/feeler gauge, but I just cannot find the right size.
Can anybody tell me a specific brand/parts number so I can get my local store to order one for me, please?
ebay shipping from China is the way I went. Trick is to get them long and thin enough. Ebay souced 6" long and .002" by +.0001 to what I needed.
Motorcycle shops sometimes stock these as well. Call 1st.
Gee, I see them listed at Sears, Home Depot or most any other hardware store.
Even if you can't get metric, it is easy enough to do the math if the gauge is 0.063" or 0.057" to convert to metric. Many even have both metric and inches on them even if they are metric.

Been to every single local shop and none of them carry metric sizes here.
I finally found a shop that will sell, but they won't be open until Tuesday.
Didn't really want to pay for shipping, kind of a money saver. Whole reason I bought the GS.

Source for hard to find .02mm and .03 mm feeler gauges......but they have min order of $50 !!!
Most kits you can find locally have only down to .04....you can do valves without .03 and .02 but it would make things easier to have them...

.001" = .0254 mm
before you use them, fan them out and dip in motor oil, then compress them again. they'll stay good (not rusty) forever if you do this twice a year.
orrrrrr, get on ebay, and look for "starrett", buy a USED set from a reputable seller for around $20 + shipping, they will last forever and not be chinese made. starrett is top shelf stuff, 'merican made.

Yes, Starrett makes good everything...but pricy.....a set like teh "sears" above is available in just about every car parts store.....even my cheap ass set measures out OK when I check with caliper....
Trouble is .0015" is just about .04mm...it would be handy to have a .02 and .03 mm for valves, as .03 is the min. spec.
In my case the .0015 was a "no go" yet the buckets would turn easily....so I knew there was some gap, but don't know if it's .01mm , .02mm, or .03mm the next sized shim gave a measured a gap of over .08mm.....while a .1mm was also no go...So I figured the gaps must have been right a .03...but not really sure
I opted to go with the tighter clearance as this was only on the intakes......
But I sure would have liked to have had...a .03mm feeler...or .02mm
You can still get buy with .04....but you have to do more math and more trial and error..
