i'm planning on switching out my rear shock and was reading on pablo's site about how this can raise the rear end by a couple of inches. he said that you could lower the bike back to stock; i was wondering if i could go a step further and lower it a little less than stock, maybe another inch?
This has been discussed several times before, check out this thread (http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4575) for example.
Also, the "Holiday 2003" Motorcyclist has an article on lowering your bike on page 80.
A Bandit 600 shock will lower the rear but it's not supposed to be much better than the stocker..It willl drop you between .5 to 1 inches under no load...(so I've read)... You can also manufacture longer dogbones to lower the rear of the GS...
You can slide the fork tubes up in the clamps to lower the front end..(If you are upgrading the rear shock- do the front end too...Progressive springs or at least a spacer mod..)....
If you drop the reat about 1" you should drop the front forks an inch or at least as far as they can go before hitting the handle bar.
