Title: Screen, Slipstreamer Turbo.
Post by: Cal Price on November 29, 2003, 05:55:29 PM
Well I finally got my screen on Thursday evening, took about a half-hour to fit, next one would take ten mins, you have to butcher the brackets that go on the lamp bolts but its fairly easy. Quite quick to take off as well but I think mine will stay on.
It is not as big as it looks on the pic posted by Rema1000 on Ash's thread,
"F18 is useless". Mounted as suggested with the angle of rake the same as the forks it comes to mustach height and almost full width of bars at base. I'm about 5'9" (1.75m) in boots and I'm comfortably looking over it.
Wind drag on helmet is considerably reduced, that monster that trys to tear your head off has gone away and I got to work tonight in filthy weather with only a little water on the plastic head and virtually dry gloves. Drop the head slightly and wind noise is eliminated and you can uctually hear the bike! plus a few whistles generated by the screen itself, (a bit like the noise a truck makes if it has loose wheel nuts)
I am well happy with it, probably not for the sporty types but for the dedicated commuter, all-weather riders and anyone going to do long trips it's ideal. I also got some Frank Thomas Bata-Aquaboots from M&P in the same delivery and they are also very good, excellent ankle padding and shin protection, good toe cap as well. My daughter has been asking what she can get me for the feast of yule, looks like some padded waterproof overtrousers and I've got the lot.
