These are the guys on patrol on bikes on Sri Lanka's first - just opened - expressway. Runs from Colombo to Galle.

It's a great bit of road, apparently, but it looks as if the guys are not too keen on safety gear. Hope they don't have to learn the hard way.

If you can even believe that ... sri lanka is 100 degrees and 99% humidity 365 days a year.
If you wear gear you suffer everyday, if you dont, you suffer the one time you crash. BTW medical in SL is far better than its in the US, you wont get a million $ bill for breaking an arm.
Cool.

Geez, Imagine that! The topic police coming here and trashing our topic. :dunno_black: <
go figure>
And while we're off-topic...
So you say Sri Lanka is hot & damp 365, eh? But I never heard of the place, until...
My neighbor married a girl from Sri Lanka.
She was beautiful, stunning actually.
Intelligent, well-mannered, etc...
Her cute accent was the icing on the cake!

Arthur C Clarke... did he move there cause he loved the place - or - was that where he was hiding, so to speak.

He he ... well, sri lanka is next door to India. Sri lanka almost is 2 countries, srilankan tamil and the rest, AKA sinhalese.
The tamil minority and their leading terrorist group the LTTE got a lot of negative attention in the last year or so.
The tamil minority has been forced to flee to many countries, canada, england and India as well as south east asia sincve the 80's. That is how I have any sri lankan friends.
Cool.
