Title: How much does it weigh?
Post by: ojstinson on December 20, 2011, 08:25:14 PM
A million dollars in 100 dollar bills weighs about 20 pounds and can easily be carried in a small suitcase. A billion dollars in 100s is a bit heavier, that amount would be tipping the scales at pretty close to 20,000 pounds, which is TEN TONS.

If I were to acquire that much tax free money I would take it spread out over a period of time to avoid becoming overwhelmed and/or spoiled-----say for instance a million a week for 19 plus years.

Note; To be more accurate, the million is actually closer to 22 pounds.

Interest income has the 2nd higher rate of taxation after work income. A great choice if you like to continue to give more money than you need to the government.

At a million dollars, you try and do stuff like live on the interest, so you have money all your life.

At a billion dollars, I don't know if I could spend it faster than the interest would accrue. I mean half of a percent is 5 million a year.

So a million bucks in 100 dollar bills is about ten kilos. Hmmmmmm be a lot less in 500 Euro notes but then give it a few months and it might be worth a lot less too.

Just thinking of the chances of carrying it to the Cayman Islands or some tax haven.
