Title: '98 Carb Question
Post by: Kijona on December 21, 2011, 08:44:28 AM
I know I have another thread open about the carbs already, I just need a quick answer on this one.

Is it safe to spray either WD-40 or Gumout carb cleaner spray, down in through every orifice of the carb to make sure I didn't leave any metal shavings in there? I had to take a hacksaw, among other things, to remove one of the float bowl screws. I'd use compressed air but I'm afraid of the pressure damaging the carbs. If I was to use compressed air at say...100PSI...would I be okay if I remove the diaphragms and the floats or are there other sensitive items in there?

Will be fine if you remove all rubber parts first.

rubber will stand to wd40 and carb cleaner. Its not actually rubber, its really neoprene, it will stand to anyhitng except bleach.
Cool.
