I was Long overdue for a bigger car. Have been getting by with just the 2dr Subaru and the Suzuki's.. So today i pulled the trigger and got a 2000 Durango with 98k on the clock:

Got it for a steal, though it needs some TLC, and a change of tires. All in all i'm pleased with the deal. My pops use to have one, exact same year and model, as well as the smaller 4.7 v8. He ended up trading his ~260k for something newer.
Nice! Always good to have a motorcycle picker,...!
Nice. its shortcomings are its transmission. and fuel mileage. but still love the things. if its a 318v8 in it. if its the 5.9 :O. but its dressed the the 318, imho besides the 440, the 318 is the best engine dodge ever produced
still loving it. the tires are about to drive me berzerker haha
definitely know all about these bulletproof dodge transmissions haha. its the 318, got ~15 mpg driving it up and down the mountain last week on vacation, pleased with it. will hopefully pep up after getting some sensible tires and a new o2 sensor.

...plus they forgot to put a bed on the back to actually carry motorcycles! :icon_mrgreen:
I had been debating putting a hitch on the subaru I used to have for moving motorcycles, but live in the city and don't even have anywhere to keep a trailer. I ended up trading it in this past August. The things we do for motorcycle love....

ive hauled bikes in a durango before. not too bad really. hauled my gs collection, and my harley. yeah teh bed is nice lol BUT fwiw if not for the fuel economy id buy one. ( i had borrowed hte aforementioend one for a week to move some stuff around. avg fuel economy was 14
nice fit tt-four!! my mates little brother brought his ducati up in the bed of his ford. fit perfect, i was drooling when he pulled up haha.
I drive the salty roads to Snowshoe(ski resort) WV every weekend during the winters, keeping the gear dry and clean is plus. Also I've been missing the Hell out of an open cabin since I traded my 99 Subaru OBS. Its nice to be able to get someone to grab something out of the back as we weave through the mountains
No worries on fitting the moto's! she's got a full hitch already on it. just need to get new ball so my old moto trailer will fit:

haha, the only thing better than a truck, is a truck with a motorcycle in the back.

I don't do much skiiing, or really any winter activities for that matter, but I do live in pittsburgh so we've got a pretty good combo of snow and hills in winter. I bought an access cab for the dogs, but it works well for normal storage, and then I got a roll up cover for the back so I can keep some stuff in there and keep it out of the rain/snow too. The only downside to the roll up cover is that I lose about 4 inches or so at the front of the bed for the frame of the cover, so I can't get the tailgate closed like I could when I first bought the truck. I'm working on trading in my cover for a trifold that you can pop off in 30 seconds so I can get back to wedging the bike in there properly. I've never owned a truck before but I already mounted a shovel in the bed and got some sandbags. It's got 4wd but I still plan to get into some trouble with it and figure I better be prepared to dig myself out haha. Now all I need are some tires like yours!
Just for shits and giggles..

i love craigslist hahah
I went and picked up two last weekend in the bikehauler. A 929 and a 900rr fit easily; minus plastics I have to say.
The bikehauler even made it into last month's issue of SSB when I wrote in and commented on hauling bikes around. They posted the (postage stamp sized) pic in the member mail section. Still, it was cool to see the bikehauler there. :icon_mrgreen:

Yeah, the 318 won't break, but the Durango guzzles gas. That's the only problem. If you drive shorter distances it's a great choice. I like the Durango too. I like Chrysler for some reason, but not as much now as before. What's wrong with me? :cookoo:
My '02 Dakota with the 4.7L was great for the first 100,000 miles, the next 50,000 saw some issues, now it has a random over heating problem I can't quite figure out so I've been throwing parts at it

still sticking with those monster tires huh?? I drove my truck a ton over fall because the bike wasn't running, plus the truck was new to me. I'm excited that it's finally just about spring, and I can give it a rest and go back to the motorcycle when I need to get places. As if normal MPG in a truck isn't bad enough, it got way worse with the winter gas haha. Filled the bike up today and enjoyed some 50MPG again.
Definitely a gas guzzler! She will be limited use to go pick up things like those 87" steer horns!! eying a couple parts bike, but don't have room for anything else in the shop just yet.
No problems out of the Duragno yet. Hahah yeah TT i'm going to run these tires till they are bald! i looked them up found they are a few hundo a piece. debated on getting some regular road tires and selling these to offset the cost. Decided against it, just going rotate them and drive til they are kicked.
yes, and resale on tires isn't all that great. If anything you might be able to trade for someone with a truck that just wants bigger looking tires. My truck came with steel wheels, and from looking online at the aluminum ones I've noticed I can but relatively new take offs with tires for like $3-400, which is way less than just buying a new set of tires. I feel like every time I need new tires I'm just going to buy a new set of wheels haha.

just got back from another great weekend of spring shredding. the durango got an impressive 16.9mpg's! with some better tires and new oxygen sensors i should be able to squeeze a couple more out of her
I'm already eying a few parts bikes i'd like to tow home with this beast :thumb:

lovin that garelli ALOT if you need help servicing it let me know. will do what i can from my end
Used to have a garelli, just a step through though, not a top tank. Yours looks awesome though.
preciate it TT! I have been searching for a top tank old school moped to make a project out of. this one popped up on craigs for $350. offered him $100, and settled on $180 after some haggling. i'm stoked to say the least. its in great condition, starts and runs ok. only has ~650 miles on it!!

really appreciate it mang, i'm too fresh in the 2 stoked and 2 speed autos right now. i've been reading since last night, but i have a whole lot more to learn.
i'm planning on a polini 70cc kit if i can get my hands on it. i'm going to be building up from the ground up pretty much. just going to order new mini clubman bars to start, then i'll be building a little 45mph shmonster

The top tanks are cool, and usually don't see them for sale under $500 around here. Heather bought me an old tomos A3 once, it was in pretty rough shape but I tore it apart and made a project out of it. Tank was rusty, piston was seized, the wheels were shot.... Rebuilt the motor, put a 70cc top end, new carb/intake, new wheels, new exhaust, seat, better bars, painted the motor black. It came out looking pretty slick, and was fast as shaZam!. It would wheelie as easy as any motorcycle I'd ever ridden haha. I had it up to 45mph when I was breaking it in, definitely would've gone over 50mph if I tried full throttle. I ended up getting rid of it after I rode it a few times though. For some reason it would usually die after riding it a while and it would be a pain to get started, who nows.
All in all, next time I'll probably just try to find a CB125 for cruising around town.

I think really fun project would be to tear apart some little 85cc dirtbike, an reweld the moped frame to hold the motor. a little 5 speed manual transmission would be awesome. If you really wanted to get into it some dirtbike forks would make a huge difference too. Those moped forks are flimsy as can be.
damn i missed that post TT, will read it when i'm not about to fall asleep!

just got back from pittsburgh for a deal i couldn't refuse;
Where in Pittsburgh were you?? That's where I'm from, a few miles east of downtown. I was also on the road today, drove to Cortland OH to pick up a new tonneau cover for the truck bed. It was a bit of a drive but it was an awesome deal so even factoring in the gas it was a steal.
I'll check out our build threads. I used to go on mopedarmy occasionally when I had question about my Tomos, but some of those kids are such huge assholes, it's amazing that so many kids that are so interested in mopeds could be so full of themselves. Every question I asked just got a smart assed response and you could tell they thought you were a worthless human being for not knowing enough about moped. I usually just came back here to ask peoples opinions haha. Either way, the moped was fun, I definitely don't miss the crowd though. I would've sworn a few of those kids were professional motoGP racers with the way they treated people.

It's one thing if you like the things and want to be there. I was just being a good sport and trying to involve myself in something my wife liked, and definitely didn't have the patience for shitty attitudes about something I didn't even want to be doing haha
So far my experience on mopedarmy is ok. got tons of info, but ya gotta weed through the cunТs haha. Some really cool people over there tho, i've found a few people with Garelli's that have been insanely helpful, even when i was asking them the noobish of questions..
Then you run across a thread that seemed like NASIOC(nazicocks as we RS25 members call 'em) tons of bs, flame, and just garbage.
My project threads haven't been taken over with flaming. I thought they would as they don't seem to do build threads over there. I like to ramble and show photos on every update so i can go back and read about all my projects. I've had a tough time finding build threads that were constantly updated.
I'm enjoying it though, I don't get too caught up on much. I'm getting into mopeds because i've found something else i enjoy(going 30mph around town enjoy the hell out of every 2 strokin mile). Smaller and slower bikes with fatter smile on my face, and my girlie can jump on one and we can cruise around the city. count me in!
Buut, when i need to get my fix, I jump on the SuMo. There's no way in HELL i could ride shredpeds only. Too slow for my only ride
The biggest haul yet!!!

4 frames(1 complete), 2 complete engines, 5 bottom ends with heads off, bags of electronics, 2 sets of mag wheels with good tires, biturbo aftermarket exhaust.. all for $100!!
Say WHAAT? Nice pick mang...
Is she a Fuel s1ut?
Preeesh bomb! I was stoked when he kept pulling more and more parts out haha
She's switched from stack of moped parts to cardboard and shipping materials now. Already doubled my money on 1 frame and 1 bad engine sold :icon_mrgreen:
I thought I did well last fall when I picked up 3 incomplete non-runners for $125... but this takes the cake!
I was able to sell two of them running(looking rough), and a box of parts for 5 big ones... you take the cake again on turnaround profs too!
Don't know if its just luck or dedication, but you've got what takes to find a deal on those tar shredders!
- Bboy
Missed this one Bboy.. I think its a little luck and persistence. Some of the owners know they can get more, but when I show up to take it all off their hands and drop some cash on em they fold! haha It might take a while to whittle them down to a price i'm comfortable with though.
The moto picker(now a full on ped picker! haha) has been busy this winter. My last picks;
Been hunting for a variated transmission for a while. Finally got the word back from a cool dude with a few parts peds. Got 2 Honda Hobbits and a Puch maxi for $240. Parted the maxi out for just over $350 and am keeping at least 1 hobbit and will either rebuild or part the other.
My latest pick 1980 Motobecane Moby. $50 bucks with full title!! Wasn't looking for another project, but this one was in the next town over and i've been working with the owner for a while. She needed it gone before she had to move again. Finally gave me the call and said she would take less than $50. Got there and she had a full title to sign over. I dropped her a $50 and ran!
If I came home with an SUV full of peds, I'd be divorced.
And Ohio is an Alimony state...
HAHA! Yeah i'm not sure how i lucked out, but mine wants to be there and help every time i go after another broke moped!

She's a keeper since mine wants little to do with bikes....most days that is.
However, she did tell me yesterday that she wants to take the State of OH course again as a refresher (already has license, but hasn't rode in years) and wants to ride my GS to save on gas. Not sure if I should say :thumb: or :o or :woohoo: or :icon_eek: or :2guns: or .

The moto picker is about to get some TLC soon, she's been working hard lately. Moving friends, hauling lawn trimmings, and buying/selling two wheelers. My 4x4 selector needs attention, oil changed, and tire balance/rotation. Also could seriously use a cleaning too haha..
just get a giant mantis. and stay outof its way when it starts rocking to launch. lol

If you find one steezin, lmk about a parts frame. just the frame. i want its history to be my own. besides i gotta build it to circumvent local screwy laws. one county cop calls the pig a moped, scooter, motorised bicycle, i swear i think he was trying to figure out how to call it a car lol
