The other Lean thread reminded me to ask before I get my work finished.
Still need to bump up to 40 Pilots I know that.
On deceleration (like going down a hill and letting off the throttle, or just coasting in general) there is a slight firecracking pop pop pop from the muffler.
sort of like what you hear from a cruiser if they are even meant to do that. (its the one type of bike I notice it often)
Upgraded to 127.5 mains 3 turns out from stock, still did it.
Few weeks later I tossed in i Think they are 132.5 mains and 3 turns out (friend ordered them for me when he needed some too)
and still does it.
only thing on the bike then was a Cobra F1s slip on.
when shes running again, i will be adding a K&N open air filter.
Think I still need to go higher with the mains?
or is popping on decel somewhat common if its just slight popping and not too loud to make ya think something wrong.
and the rest of the carbs are fine, in tune and clean.
also, no pics of the old plugs atm.
thanks
Popping on decel, as you describe, is with the throttle closed.
You are running on the slow circuit at that point, but the drive train is running backwards keeping the rpm up.
Changing main jets wont help it, you must change the pilot.
What year bike is it?
Get the new pilots and they will help a lot, and also help with drivability in general.
I have 40s in mine per buddah's suggestion, and still i get pops coming down at closed throttle at the top end of the tach.
Small pops are normal, but do change your pilots and you'll thank yourself.
its a 94
and thank you :)
planned on going to 40 pilots when I was messin with the carbs early in the past summer.
been forgetful with the endless work I've been doing on it lol
guess I can see if the salvage yard nearby has some when I go up there for a few other things.
(they also have a ton of brand new items, not that I would go up there for a used pair) haha
Good stuff, friend. I hope you get her up and running soon!
You should stick with the 127's for the mains, honestly. As Funderb said, the mains are irrelevant and where you'll notice the most improvement is when you replace the pilot jets with 40's. ;)
if the current mains are 132's, then I probably will jump back to the 127s.
not entirely sure if they are tho.
Its been since mid summer just about when I simply put the higher ones in and didnt pay it any extra thought except the popping.
They might even be 130s.
if they are 130, I will leave em be for the time being after putting 40s in it.
if 132.5, will swap back to the 127s.
but thanks again, small load always on my mind while riding, now Off my mind :thumb:
