Title: To those who have rebuilt '04-up forks
Post by: BaltimoreGS on January 17, 2012, 06:43:56 PM
I have yet to see the insides of the newer GS forks and I'm curious if the tool from my SV forks would work.  Opinions??

I find this part listed:  09940-34531

Here:   http://www.alpha-sports.com/tools/suzuki_tools.htm

Which seems to be the tool required. Looks like what you have.

Just replaced my springs and seals on my 05 and the 'bashing the hell out of a broom handle' method worked for me.  As I posted on my thread http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=58762.0 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=58762.0) I don't think there are any ridges for either of those tools to connect with.  The insides of the damper rod are completely smooth. There is only a small ring indentation about a centimeter from the top edge.

Two tools that I thought were absolutely necessary (besides the broom handle) were my impact wrench and a long 7mm hex socket.  There's no way I would have had enough leverage to do it with regular allen wrench.
