So I just picked up a 1994 dr 125 se for the city. Apparently it was a steel because I paid only $800 for it and it had 1 owned, 3k miles, everything original and it still had the "break in" sticker on the spedo. Its super clean, previous owner kept up on all maintenance, and it literally looks like it came off the show room floor. The owner was an older guy that used it as a grocery store bike. He had no use for it and decided to sell it. Everyone was freaking about this on stl craigslist that this was a great deal and I called the guy first. He was true and honest about the bike. And he being in the armed services he let me get it for $800. I drove it home and fell in love with it. He gave me a new front and rear sprocket he had because we was planning to re gear it for more torque but he never did it.
But I cant find any information about this great little bike anywhere besides it was sold for only 2 years in the US and it is a fairly popular bike out side the states. Do any of you guys have info on this little guy?

Looks great! looks just like a mini version of my first bike, an 83 yamaha xt550. Same styling. You'll definitely have a great time on that bike. Street bikes are fun, and they have their pluses, but you can't beat something that you can literally do ANYTHING on. You'll feel so limited next time you're on a street bike haha.
I'll buy it if you don't want it :D
Welcome to the DR club! Adfalchius and I both have DR200SE's in our stables. Not specifically for your bike but there is a lot of dual sport info at advrider.com. The DR125SE was only available for a few years in the US and I've never seen a street legal version in person. Saw one on CL a while ago but it had a lost title. The DR125 shared a lot of components with the DR200. What they lack in power they make up for in durability! It has a ball bearing crank. Keep the oil changed and air filter cleaned and oiled and you should get a lot of life out of that little bike :thumb:

I have a list of stuff to keep up on maintenance to keep it alive and strong. They seem bullet proof just like my tw200 was before it got stolen and chop shopped </3 haha. I'm debating re gearing it with the sprockets the guy gave me, which at brand new in box and specifically made for the dr 125. But I don't know if I should gear it for torque, yea its going to be a city bike so torque is a plus. As it stand right now the little guy is pretty damn quick, but I don't even think about tking it on the high way.
I had a 1988 KLR650 that only had 7k miles on it when I bought it. It was my learning bike and I have to say that it seemed almost indestructible. Dual sport bikes are a lot of bang for not a lot of buck in my opinion. Plus, consider that you can take them almost anywhere! Just don't expect to get on the highway, heh! My KLR650 would do over 100 but...not safely. LOL!

gear it down! I swapped the 15t on my yz for a 13t and it's way more fun. I won't know for sure until it warms up and I start riding it outside the city with that gearing, but around town the gearing is perfect. I spend the majority of my time going 0-35, and on a random occasion i may hit 40-45, but not often.
You're going to have a lot of fun with that! I love my DR200! I bought mine partially because so many people said some valuable skills were transferred from dirt to street. And if I don't end up riding much dirt...then hey, it's a commuter as well.
MUST HAVE ONE!
bahahahah... It's a Kawazuki.
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_DR-Z_125 ,
Kawasaki rebranded it and sold the same bike as the Kawasaki KLX-125
According to spec, it's basically an off-road scooter, though. You cant take it on the freeway. max speed 50mph,if i read correctly
Not the first time Suzuki has paired with Kawasaki:

One on the left (orange) is the KLV1000 made by Kawasaki. The one on the right is the DL1000 made by Suzuki. Can you tell the difference? I can't.
Man that thing is gonna be fun to thrash around.
I like dr650. Look like Kawasaki only need this clone bike until they make Versys.
Kawasaki also sold a duplicate of the suzuki DRZ400 as well. I don't remember what it was, I just know a lot of supermoto kids like to put the green bodywork onto their bikes.
There's a 400 sport quad that is a cross over too.

Ill wait til it gets warmed up before I start gearing it differently. And I'm already throwing this thing around the city with no problems. Went on a easy trail ride and this is where this little guy shines! My buddy was on his klr 250 and another friend was on an xr 200. My bike tore that trail up. It was so easy to control! It impressed everyone there for its size. Then we got on the road and I started to lag behind again  Now my gs500 is gonna be jealous! haha

I also noticed that but the dr-z does not carry over to the dr. Parts comparability is limited. The dr was a completely different bike. Who ever makes that damn thing I still love it!

I agree. I want to take that thing out to a parking lot and do some wheelies on it :icon_lol:
I'm about to gear it down, swapping the front 16 tooth sprocket out for a 15 tooth one the previous owner gave me. Then time to go to the parking lot and do wheeling on it!
Had an unseasonably warm day in B-more today so I dug my DR out of the shed :thumb: Everything else is packed away for
winter.

My lovely '07 DR200SE I bought from Adfalchius. She had picked up a package deal from a motivated seller a while back.

It hit 60 here in Pittsburgh! I got out for a few hours too and had a pretty good time. My sumo tire got a nail in it a week or two ago, so I tossed the offroad wheels back on the bike until I fix it. The handling of the bike was pretty crazy, and it was geared so low that I was trying to shift into a non-existant 6th gear at 35mph the whole way haha. It was nice to be out regardless, but now I'm really looking forward to getting back to street tires and street-friendly gearing.
I managed to get out and ride for a few hours, I'm thinking I'm going to leave my gearing completely stock. It was dragging me around great and has no problems with the little up hills I have around the city. The handling was superb, I had a very enjoyable ride.
Until my friend low sided his '00 Gs5 and I almost ran over him. He's ok but the bike is going to need some mayor cosmetic work and a new head light, bars, mirrors, and speedo/tach assembly.
