Title: Nice Ducati!
Post by: Charles on February 01, 2012, 08:29:53 PM
So, walking out of the local Suzuki dealer as another guy is walking in... as we pass and greet, he says, "Hey, is that your Ducati?"  Not having noticed a Ducati on the way in, I look, and seeing only my bike, I point and ask, "That one?"  He grins and nods.  "It's mine, but it's a GS500,"  I reply.  "That's a GS?  Sweeeet..."

My 300 dollar bike is looking pretty good :-)

Enjoyed my first ride in a couple weeks yesterday... between the weather, travel, shoulder injury and bike work, it's been a while.  Now it has a new chain, air filter, 15t sprocket, clutch cable and grips. And a fresh coat of Plasti-Dip.  AND I found a copy of Twist of the Wrist Volume 2 at the local used book store for ten bucks, so I've been studying.  :-)

Still got some learning to do and some work on the bike, but overall I'm loving it.  I really appreciate all the helpful folks on this site... I do LOTS of reading and not much posting, but I'm on here most days.  Thanks, y'all.

My bike used to be spray painted flat black and looked exactly like yours. I think that was one of it's best looking phases.

Mine is currently flat black (well, actually undercoating..).  Looks exactly like the OPs, except I have a darker frame and dirty/paint-peeling rims.  Very soon the wheels will match the frame, and the bike will be burnt copper.  (Or, at least, that's the plan)

Looking good OP!

I have had my GS mistaken for a Ducati as well at a bike shop. Other than being naked I see no resemblance but hey it is a compliment I spose. Now if someone said "Nice Suzuki GS" when I was on my Ducati then I might take offence  :tongue2:

Maybe we can start a trend of having duc decals on our bikes just to throw people for a loop!

Codajastal, its a '92.  Not sure if you can tell in the pic but the wheels are the burgundy ones.

Wow I guess they didnt change much if anything in the 3 years between them.
I like your wheels better than mine.

Heck, they didn't change much of anything from '89-'03!  Nice clip-ons, though.

To fix the pictire, put [ img ] before the link, and [ /img ] after it.  Don't use spaces, though... I just did that so it wouldnt show up as a red x.

I used to get those same questions when I had both my buell and the naked triumph. Both unfortunately had a loud exhaust and I have no idea what made everyone think I wanted to try and scream through my helmet, over the exhaust, just to talk to them when they were in their car 5 feet away. I just started pointing to the stickers on the gas tank/airbox in kind of a 'can't you read?!' answer.

I think I'm going to paint mine white. What do you guys use to black the wheels? I thought maybe I could do that part myself, but I'm not sure what paint to use to prevent chipping.
