I juat grabbed a 2004 GS500F with a spun rod bearing. I am in hopes the crank can be turned and reused. The rest of the motor is in excellent shape with the exception of one rod. I am not scared of motor being a machinist. However is this a common problem with these motors?
Also I know I can find online pdf Manuals for most any automobile. This being my first Motorcycle I am unfamiliar with it. Does anyone know where to find a Repair manual down load? I can buy it on eBay for $8 so I am thinking that is my best route.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am mostly looking for the rod journal spec. Thanks

yes....manual is online....but I'm not allowed to tell you that...something about copyrighted material. Also this group, I think, sells manuals, and would like you to buy one from them...which seems like a nice thing to do...
If you just need specific specifications, I can look them up for you in my manual...let me know hat you need...
Otherwise the secret word for the day is "parts shark".....
(I don't think anybody has yet figured out what theheck I mean when I keepy saying "parts shark" LOL...)

Cookie, I downloaded a 89-09 GS500 service manual from parts shark a couple years ago but have been unable to connect to their manual download links for a while now including just a few minutes ago. Don't know if they are no longer sharing them or if I'm doing something wrong?

I bought the PDF version of the 04-09 manual. It is the Suzuki manual itself. Once I get it if anyone would like it to ____ ____ they can get ahold of me. What you do with it is your business but I think it should be open for anyone that needs to work on their bike.

The link to the manual on partshark doesn't seem to work any more.....I could get to Yahama, but not connect when clicked on Suzuki! There is another place on the internet where you can get 1989 ~1999.....manual...
The manual for '04 to'09 is nothing more than the '89 manual, with additional chapters for each following year...PITA because you have to look up what you are doing in the main part of the manual, then you have to refer to your particular year in another section, and make sure you follow all the changes/updates! But it works!

The GS twin main page sells the Clymer manual through Amazon.....profits go to support the web site. Sounds like a good thing. But this is not the Suzuki factory manual.

I just did a bunch of searching on the internet.....the Suzuki...gs500 service manual is out there.....in various forms...and years....you can find up to 2009....for free download.....It is even available from this very chat group!
Again, I'm not sure of the copyright laws, and don't want to step on anyone's toes...so all I'm gonna say is, if you search, you can find!

I think OP already has the PDF :)
