Title: A big loss?
Post by: rock_rebel on February 06, 2012, 04:41:07 PM
So I moved into a new apartment and didn't have room to store my old fairing I removed from my bike a year ago. When I fell off my bike I banged up the fairing really bad. It was in need of a re-spray, and it was cracked in several places. The previous owner had cracked it completely but managed to put it back together somehow. Anyway I left it outside over the weekend. It wasn't touched until today, when the garbage truck came. It seems weird it would've been stolen, given the condition it was in. I wasn't planning on putting in back on, but maybe selling it some day as a pair. Thing was I didn't have anywhere to put it. Did I lose out big for not selling this?

OK...perhaps reading comprehension isn't my strong suit, but...you left your heavily cracked and damaged old fairing outside and it's missing after the garbage truck came. Any chance the garbage guy (or gal) thought it was garbage and hauled it off?  :dunno_black:

How much were you expecting to sell this for?

I don;t think so.

Did you leave it next to the trash cans?
I don't think you lost anything. I have 2 complete "F" fairings and no place to put them or sell them. Doesn't seem to be a market for fairings.
Maybe they did you a favor. Now you don't have to waste time storing it and trying to sell it, when deal with people who say they'll pay next week and never pay so all that time wasted.
I'm going to be feeding my trash can a lot. Just fed him a couple rear shocks and some other stuff. A little at a time and they don't care what I throw away.

You must have a LOT of stuff in your apartment that makes it too crowded to even put a 2 foot long fairing in a closet, or under your bed, or in the attic...

Adidas what kind of fairings do you have

"F" - but somebody painted them fugley flat black. Need repainting.
One front piece has a crack - a clean crack so could easily be glued together before painting it.
Other front piece is original 2006 black with decals removed. Just a few minor blemishes that can be buffed out.
Also got 2 tail sets - both fugleified with crappy paint. But they are intact.
Need wheels? Swing arms?

Man, you lost out big time. You could maybe have gotten $8k for it. Now the garbage  man is going to profit from your shortsightedness. You dumkopf!

$8k!! are you kidding? He clearly stated they were damaged.  (http://www.runemasterstudios.com/graemlins/images/slap.gif)

Now then...had they been in perfect condition they would have been worth $12k easy. (http://www.runemasterstudios.com/graemlins/images/yes.gif)

fairings are not worth $12k unless you include a blue cap for the indicator lights.

The garbage guy probably has them up on eBay as we speak. This is his chance to put his kids through college

Well, make some Stitches with zip ties - all the rage - and you've got probably $14k for them easy money.

Go hunt down that garbo and tell him you want your $18k

Add some Monster stickers and you'd be up near $20k easy money.
