Hi guys, this question isnt about weather I should or shouldnt get one. Im going to get one to try out for myself. I really just have 2 questions:
1: Is the model of k&n filter RU-2970 for the gs 500?
2: What size is the crankcase breather tube? Im looking for an inside diameter.
Thanks guys.

You're talking about the one that goes from the top of the valve cover to the airbox, yes?
From what I remember, the ID of that tube is between 10 and 12mm. Or 3/8" to 1/2".
I am talking about that but which size is it? 3/8 or 1/2
also is that the right number for the lunch box?
Ok so I asked the question about if this is the right lunch box only beacuse I didnt know if there was a new different kind that superseeded it. It turns out there is not so the RU-2970 is still the right one.
Can anyone else tell me if the hose for the vent is a 3/8 or 1/2 ID, Im not sure how to find this out on my own?
I did look but didnt come up with anything.
To figure out hose size, you can:
1. measure the breather cover nipple on your bike with a caliper
2. Check out a parts fiche site like Ronayers.com
3. Use search in the top right side of your screen

I was just going by memory, I'm out of town at the moment so I can't tell you the exact size. It isn't extremely important since the tube can be stretched and squeezed and everything in between. A 3/8" hose would fit on a 1/2" size nipple with a little finagling and visa versa.

Actually all it says is the proper k&n size/type and doesnt tell me the ventline ID.

Thanks for trying and giving me the suggestions, I just wanted someone to confirm this is all.

Very bottom of the page:
Breather Cover Filter
GSTwins member Wrecent_Wryder used the Uni UP-123 for his breather cover filter.
GSTwins member Paulin8r used the K&N 62-1320 for the same purpose
