Noticed while riding that the clutch has a very short lever stroke to disengage it. It hasn't started slipping yet and there is 20k miles on the bike but i think it may be on its way out. The clutch life is determined by the rider but on average how long to the clutches on these bikes last?
To those who have upgraded the clutch what brand did you go with and pros/cons of it
Lastly and slightly related if you switch to synthetic oil after conventional has been used is it worth it and has anyone noticed any clutch slipping with it? ( unlikely but i have had lower powered dirt bikes that would not engage correctly if synthetic was used.)
Mine is like that also, only 14k miles. May just be the nature of the bike.
try adjusting it first,it may be all you need
I literally just did that and went for a ride, same deal. It seems like 1/2 inch of travel disengages it completely. That may be how it is, but that does not seem right to me.
Then you have no freeplay ,it is meant to be 10 _15 MM movement ,i normaly set mine at 10mm
the clutch has about 1/2 inch of freeplay ( slop ) before it starts to put tension on the cable. Then only another 1/2 inch of pull to fully disengage the clutch
You have a good clutch in my opinion .No slippage no drag.

Synthetic oil costs more, and does not benefit the gs.
Get a new clutch cable, and adjust it the right way.
The gs clutch can last the life of the engine of
5 minutes... I'll lean towards forever.
