Today i replaced my handlebar. Took off the old one, put on the new one, and now she wont start. Did some checking around. The battery is good. the kill switch works. the starter switch works. I have voltage to the starter switch and to the kill switch. Bike in neutral, killswitch on, pull in the clutch and nothing....i am at a loss. It worked fine before the new bars... and now it dosn't. When push the starter switch nothing happens at all. no clicking no voltage drop. nothing. I was able to push start it and it ran fine. rode it around, parked it and tried again. Nothing. Your thoughts please, ive got nothing.
You've already eliminated the kill switch, neutral switch.
The two other culprits:
Clutch switch (most likely since you removed the bars)
Sidestand switch
I'm betting your clutch switch got knocked around when you put it on the new bars, take a peek there first.
I assume that is the little switch on the clutch lever?
I will try to jump that as well tomorrow then and see if anything happens
THANKS!
couldn't wait so i went ahead and jumped across the clutch safety switch and SHAZAM she starts. WHOOOOO :icon_mrgreen:
Thanks again for the help.
Now another question, will having the clutch safety switch permanently jumped effect anything else?
You can leave it jumpered. Remember it is a safety switch.
Review my video on clutch levers & switches when you're ready to replace it.

So i jumped to the exact point in that video where you say take the switch out before removing anything because you can grab the lever and break the switch and i said, " hey look at that, i did exactly what he said not to do" :icon_lol:
