Title: Parting out '92 GS500E (Seized engine)
Post by: maddoc6974 on February 20, 2012, 03:41:32 PM
Long story short, a buddy of mine offered to do an oil change for me and didn't put enough oil in it.  After tearing apart the header and seeing nothing wrong, I assumed it was the lower end and I lack the tools to break it open.  I'm getting a '81 CB750 from a friend for next to nothing so I've decided to give up on this bike

I'm parting everything out.  Engine is bad, and the cheap aftermarket exhaust was installed bad by PO, however everything else is in good condition.  I'm located in a suburb of Detroit and am willing to take any offers.  I have a clean title and all that other good stuff as well.

PM me if you have questions or offers.  If you need pictures or anything just ask.

$50 plus shipping?

Also, if anyone is interested in the forks themselves, the springs/fluid were replaced with some race tech .8's by my local dealer last summer.

Would you do $50 shipped? Should only cost $10 in a flat rate box. Gives you $40 for it all. I'll pay today!

I'll do $55 shipped, just let me double check that the flat rate box that fits it isnt too expensive.

And the bike is located in Novi, MI 48375.

Use Parcel Post with insurance. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than flat-rate. It'll take a bit longer to get there but so what?

To put it in perspective, I shipped a huge box that weighed like 10lbs, and a completely flat box (had a gasket in it), to Adidasguy via Parcel Post. I insured the box for $100 and the entire cost of shipping BOTH items was only a little over $15 and I got delivery confirmation too.

No reason why you would use Priority unless it was time sensitive.

I am going to totally disagree with you on this. I ship large clunky turbos all the time as I rebuild and modify them. USPS priority is awesome and the only way to go when you use the Flat Rate bozes.

A good example is I had T3T4 turbo that I shipped in state the other day. It was 3.5 hour trip from here and with flat rate I got it boxed, tracking, and shipped for $12.50. Had I used priority without the flat rate box it would have been $21 and Parcel Post would have been $14.50.

Also the Flat Rate boxes are AWESOME for shipping over sees. I shipped a turbo to France and it cost a total of $28 with tracking info.

Price shipped to 77340.

Thank You

I'm interested mostly in the cam caps and the timing tensioner. I broke one of the caps when I went to rebuild my head and suzuki doesn't sell without the head. what about the rear fairings, if theyre look good and are black I may be interested in them. In short, could you give me a price on: Tensioner, cam caps, head (may buy it if $ is right), rear fairings. I'm in Valdosta, Ga

agreed. i do this as well. i sold a 14k swiss pocket watch for my father and sent it overisured to california. small flat rate, plus insurance to 800 was 14.99. parcel would have been cheaper. by nearly half. but this way i could watch over it and boex were PERFECT proportions to ship. but yes parcel is perfect for these things. and you can get the tracking number if you wish. or at least del. confirmation.
