Ok, we all know that most swingarms wont work, too wide or too short.
Some have milled down a swingarm to make it work. Too much work for me.
I was looking at my bike (which I have no center stand)
Only thing keeping the two halves of the bike together are the battery mount, the tank, and the brace which the spring attaches to.
Instead of milling down a swingarm, why not find one thats CLOSE to the same size (I think the srad is like .75 of an inch larger), torch off the shock mount, spread the chassis .75 of an inch (or .375 of an inch on each side, less than half an inch) and refab a shock mount...
The change is so little that it would still look good with the tank, and all you'd have to fab is a new tank mount and battery bracket.
And, Youd have a beautiful new swingarm with a nice 180 tire and better brakes without the need to hammer on the brake torsion bar with a bfh...

It would seem to me that its possible but on that note i would think you would have to do some sort of shimming and spacing to the engine and front components to get it to line up correctly with the rear end. Then you would have an off balance bike if you had to move the engine say 1/2 inch over to the left vs. it being centered. Any reason for the want to chop a bike up for a 180 tire? or just for s%$ts and gigs?
By the time you are done seriously altering the bike's geometry, you probably could have bought two more gses or a SV650.
and then you might be stuck with a worthless bike that handles funny.
not saying you shouldnt try it.
or you can get an RGV SA
I'm a big brain stormer.
1.Find front end totaled FI bike
2. Make engine fit (sprocket will be out a bit too far)
3. Make swingarm fit by expanding bike a tad
4. All is right in the world, cause the wingarm is in the correct place, the engine is in the correct place, and I got enough tire for the extra TQ.
Going around your arse to get to your elbow sounds appropriate! :P :P :P

I'm working on an RGV swingarm conversion for my GS. I need to be very clear here - it's not a direct swap - there's a shaZam! tonne of costs and surprised involved, and it's not cheap.
I'm about $1000 into my swap. Much better of sticking with the stock unit. Works fine even at a race pace. Get a Katana rim if you want a wider selection of rubber.
