Title: Brake Master Cylinder
Post by: codajastal on February 23, 2012, 12:09:17 AM
Will the Rear Brake Master Cylinder off a 2009 model be a straight swap for my 1989 model? or would it be easier to recondition my own or any other alternatives?

All are compatible. Same thing - just newer ones are black and older ones I think were silver.
That's what I do - buy a new MS or caliper and don't bother rebuilding old crap.

Here's a 2009 MS and calipers on my 1993 frame. rear are virtually the same. While front calipers changed twice, the newer ones are a direct replacement for older ones. Just remember what year when you buy pads for front calipers. All rear calipers use the same pads (as far as I know).
