Alright, painted the helmet and continuing to try and kill time before the F to E conversion parts arrive!
Bought a parking permit for the University today and the GS is horrible for trying to find a place to mount it. So after a little of thinking I came up with this idea which I feel turned out pretty good!
Parts Need:
Philips Screw Driver
Open or closed wrenches
Electric drill
Drill Bits
Paint (Optional)
Step one:
Remove (2) rear red reflectors using 8mm wrench and philips screw driver

Step two:
Remove rear license plate by using a philips screw driver and a 10m (I think)
Step three:
Behind the plate is two more philips screw with 8mm nuts on the back side
Remove ONE of these. I removed the right side nut and bolt
Step four:
Throw one reflector away, keep hardware...can always come in handy!
Grab other reflector and use electric or battery powered drill and make the hole SLIGHTLY bigger
Make it so that it will just fit the bolt removed from the previous step
Step five:
Paint red reflector black and let dry (This step is optional)
Step six:
Bolt reflector to license plate bracket
Step seven:
Reinstall your license plate
Step eight:
Apply sticker
Step nine:

It does look good however I also dont think you should get ride of reflectors. Bikes are hard enough to see in the day light never mind at night. Also I dont think its legal to take them off. Where Im from its part of the safety and therefor its a law requirement.
Haha too funny, I also go to OSU. Good luck on the conversion, its way worth it.

Adidasguy - appreciate the information about the reflector however, I did pick that up the first post you made. I'm also interested in why you feel it's necessary to lecture me on turn signals when not anywhere in this thread have I ever talked about removing them. I may be dumb but I am not stupid. And trust me I am all about safety but feel removing two reflectors which are pretty difficult to see especially if relocated won't have much affect but then again maybe it will. Also I don't ride at night for that very reason, hard enough to see during the day let alone in the dark. I ride for the fun of it and I don't find it enjoyable at night.
FYI Oregon doesn't do inspections and everything you do or own probably isn't DOT approved either. How about that helmet? Have you owned it for two years? Probably time to replace it, had it wet absorbed even a slight blow...minor drop? Might need to replace it.
Not lecturing you. Since the topic was about removing things and DOT requirements, I mentioned it for reference as many people read the threads and many people are not aware of the DOT requirements for a street legal vehicle.

If you are going to get rid of the reflectors, thats fine. That type of reflector is not very effective anyways. However, you should replace them with some 3M or equivalent reflective tape. It is much more reflective and you can get it in the color of the part you are putting it on so that you can't see it in the day time.
What I did was change the mounting point so that the reflectors run with the lines of the bike.
I like what you did with the sticker. When I had a parking pass at UW I made a plexiglass bracket that mounted to the threaded fork reflector boss for those circular reflectors. Unfortunately that pass is gigantic and I didn't want to stick it anywhere on my bike.
I welcome you to continue to post on my threads as this is a community and I do understand your interest in providing information to others I would just recommend staying on topic of actual thread. We could go on for days about DOT regulations.

Are those license plate reflector bolts (the little round ones) DOT? I took off the oem reflector in the back and thought those would do the job. I never thought about DOT standards. And the ones on my forks were never on there, the PO broke them off. Knowing NYC cops... they'll ticket for anything they can scavenge up. They really hate motorcyclists. Shoot. I want to know.. really! heh heh
Bolts do not matter. Its position and color.
I can send you all the reflectors you want. Got a box full of them.

Sure... I need the fork reflectors and the tail. Although, I have to figure out how to re-attach the rear reflector bracket again.
