Post by: mach1 on February 28, 2012, 06:31:48 PM
So I need to replace the motor in my 79 cm185 I wanna install either a 200 or  I know later models have cdi ignition. I need to know f the motor I find has cdi can I swap my rotor and stuffto the new motor from my old motor? Id rather not rewire for a cdi box. Also would a 250 from an 05rebel fit? The mounts look the same .it also has th holes on the ottom of the motor where the footpeg goes

Might want to look around on a Honda specific forum. Hondatwins, dotheton, sohc4, etc.

Just guessing though - I think wiring in a new cdi would be easier than swapping rotors. I've changed from points type ignition to electronic on a couple scoots and it's actually very easy.

The only thing I can say about a motor swap is to try to cross reference any parts that would matter. Like the cases, motor mount bolts, etc. Not much help, I know. Sorry man.
