Title: TS-185 parts?
Post by: adidasguy on March 02, 2012, 05:49:18 PM
OK, not sure where there is a TS-185 message board. So........

I'm going to get the 1973 TS-185. Near mint condition. Going to buy it Saturday.

I need the rear carrier for it. Not easy to find. However..........

There is a parts bike ("runs great, new tires, needs exhaust and gas on/off vaulve leaks 200 obo as is, no title.") for $200 that has the rear rack. I offered to buy just the rack. But if I need to buy the whole bike, where are there message boards for the TS-185 so I could sell off the parts? I'm sure keeping the rack I could get $150 for the rest of the parts. But where to sell other than flea-behy?

Anyone know of a TS-185 message board or have any interest in TS-185 parts?

(I don't want to be a parts whore for TS-185's. Being a GS500 parts whore is enough work.)

No luck for the rear carrier. I'll search them for links to other places for a carrier and to sell parts
Something should turn up.
Thanks for helping.
Tomorrow I say hello to "Thumper"!
(Curse the photo challenge of your bike with another Suzuki - it made me buy a non-GS500!)

Discovered www.thumpertalk.com --- maybe? Unfortunately they are doing maintenance right now but did read some posts on TS-185's

Damitall! Listing not on CL now. Probably expired. No response from seller.

There must be one of these racks somewhere.

Tomorrow this will be added to the Bike Cave. Meet "Thumper". He needs a rear carrier. That will be soooooooo cute!
PS: He is 100% original - even the tires (tyres to some of you  :flipoff: ) 3400 miles (you do the math if you want km  :bs: )
So..... I want the original OEM rack.

Dang if I lived close to you I would say get the parts bike and take the rack off and sell me the rest of the bike so I could stuff the engine into my TS-125!

Found a rack in pristine condition for $99. Since the TC-185 was the twin for the TS-185, I looked for it under TC. It was standard on the TC and optional on the TS.
I'll post new pictures next week when he comes home.

It cleaned up nice. Only a little surface rust in the 2 corner braces. Eastwood's Rust Dissolver removed it in a couple minutes. Then polished it with AutoSol. Took to Aurora Suzuki Saturday to let them install it when they put on the new tires and detail out the rear wheel (some dirt on it). Easier for them to detail the wheel when it is off the bike for new tires.

This polished up sweet! $99 everyone says is less than I would have paid to get a crappy one and re-chrome it. sorry I don't have a polished picture. next week - when I bring Thumper home. That's just dirt on the rack in the ebay photo. It arrived all dusted off.

A lot of finding things on ebay is experience in how people misspell things and break up the words. also what other things are compatible. as mentioned, I found out the TC-185 came with a stock rack and it was optional on the TS. So I searched for the TC185 and found it!
