Title: Paying attention to my GS
Post by: Cadbal on March 03, 2012, 07:16:31 PM
Hi guys, I purchased a GS last year just before winter and it's been stood outside the last 5 months or so.

Now the weather is breaking a little i'm hoping to put it into a better condition even though it will take me a good few months possibly a year or two, my first question is, what, if any spray or applicant i can apply to the bike to help me preserve the condition as best as possible from the weather?

Second, as for now i'm looking at a full exhaust system as mine is rusty as hell and a set of mirrors, slightly wider than the standard ones, bar ends if I have to.

Any links or advise is great, i'll post pics as i slowly refurbish this bike to all it's glory

Many thanks

Cad

Edit: Part would ideally be in the UK as i live in south wales

Try having a look at the Napoleon style bar end mirrors that the Triumph Thruxton's use. Should be plenty of them in the UK. Similar to these -

How about investing in a motorcycle cover if the bike has to stay outside.

Ebay can provide you with a plethora of replacement stock parts that would need to be replaced.

I do have a bike cover for both the missus and my bike, it just seems that the rust gets into there, i'm looking for easy parts to replace now while i get my lazy arse around to building a garage which will allow me to focus on the rest while staying dry ^^
