Title: How much have you put in your GS, only money spent on parts, no labor costs?
Post by: knowles on March 04, 2012, 06:56:04 AM
Just wanted to see who has spent the most in Money not trading or free stuff, from the look at some of your bikes I know I'm not the winner. Should be separate one for Race Bikes, and street bikes. And you can only count stuff on one bike (for some of you that have more that one bike in your caves)

$398 exhaust
$20 grips
$10 bar ends
$25 bar end mirrors
$52 K/N lunch box
$74 jets
$220 chain , and front and rear sprockets
$120 rear tire
$65 front tire
$20 rear brake pads
$45 rear shock
$89 F-18 fly screen

Total so far-1138
Still have about $700 to put into it as long as nothing breaks before next winter.

I honestly couldnt keep count.
If I did, it would partially make me sad when I would think of what I could have gotten if I didnt put so much towards it.

Honestly.
Im 100% certain over $2000 but below $4000.
Probably around the $3000 mark, lil higher or lower most likely.

Since I bought it in May last year.

Probably around $1000 to $1200 through last years riding season. (alot of mechanical OEM replacement parts killed me)
and a TONNNN since Nov when I started all the work on it. (see my build thread) lol

I have almost Zero complaints tho.  :thumb:

Three new tires, new steering bearings, front and rear wheel bearings, 3 new needle bearing sets for the swingarm plus swingarm bearings themselves, new air filter, new battery, new fluids, new marker lights, new o-ring chain, new front and rear sprockets, new front and rear brake pads, new front brake piston seals, new carb rebuild kit, all new connectors on half of the wiring harness, new paint on the frame and additionals and regular oil changes.

Coming in the next month are new grips, new bar ends, a new engine gasket kit, new spark plugs, and a few bits of replacement hardware.

I couldn't even begin to accumulate the costs or else I'd have to cry.

if there was a contest for the most money spent on parts that haven't been bolted on yet, i would be the worst of the best or best of the worst, i'll let you decide haha. still waiting to hear back if i can title the parts bike before i start bolting everything on..

i'm almost certain i've spent more in parts than on the bike originally :cookoo:

Ugh ... I've bought various things for mine over the course of the past 3 years now, and when you spend 30 bucks here and 60 bucks there it doesn't *seem* like alot. But I just added it all up (upgrades only, not including regular maintenance stuff ie: oil, plugs, chain lube etc) and I'm about $900 deep.  :o which is about $900 more than I ever said I would put into this bike when I  bought it. lol

Oil - $5
K&N Filter Cleaner Kit - $12

Total - $17

But I've only had it for <1000 miles!

the total is unbearable to type.. here's a quick list i whipped up. after adding this up, i am DONE buying anything for the gsF... until paint/powder-coating :embarassed:

headlights, solo seat cowl, belly pan, helmet, exhaust, jets, sonic springs, clip ons, black levers, german chain guard, tires, 58cycle(tail light and a couple other bits), tank bag, buddha cover, 1pc leathers, used hugger, reloads fork brace, phat performance(misc bits), lsl levers, steezin's shim kit, gimbel rearsets, aztec8's windscreen, nissin caliper and sv adapter, r&g bits, r6 shock, ss brake lines.

the list goes on, but i'm getting depressed not having to road worthy gs, and adding up how much i've spent. i'm going to go berzerker if the DMV doesn't give me my title soon :icon_lol:
