Title: Gotta clear out lots of parts Updated May 2
Post by: adidasguy on March 04, 2012, 11:50:49 PM
Updated April 5
*** I'll update/edit as parts go and add requests so all stuff available is in this first posting ***

Time to clear out stuff. Lots of the stuff is too insignificant to list in detail, so best to know I have lots of stuff and ask if I have it. Payment through paypal. Sorry abut one thing: there have been way too many "I'll pay you in 2 weeks when I get paid" and most never paid. So I don't want to bother with those. Too many parts and too hard to keep track of the "I'll pay you next week". If you were one of those and do have payment now, let me know. If you can't pay for a week or two, please wait or put down a deposit. Sorry - its business. Lots pf parts (most not listed so ask) and don't have time to find parts, clean them up and not get paid.

For payments, cash and local pickup or paypal is
patrickpaypal at
cdesoftware dot
com

PM when ready to order or make offers. I'll estimate the total shipping and either pay my paypal or give me your paypal and I can invoice you.

LOTS of parts going out so to make it easier for shipping at my office, be sure paypal as full name and address in the payment plus what you're buying. You will receive tracking back via the email showing on your paypal. (AOL likes to put it into spam for some unknown reason)

This is a start. I'll update as stuff comes and goes.

Some of the parts I have in the boxes are:
axles, chain tensioners, rectifiers, ignition units, coils, bare for clip-ons, bar ends, nuts, bolts, battery boxes, pegs, peg brackets, handlebar controls, cables, tons of tail plastics for 89-00, rear grab handles, seat latches, seats, key sets, clips, wire clips, nuts, bolts, banjo-bolts, fork braces, engine mounting bolts & spacers, brake rotors, rotor bolts, etc. Really too many parts to list unless I put up a parts fisch.

First: Things I can't spare right now: wheels, clip-ons (do have spare bars), turn signals, head lamps (other than the "F" in the fairing), belly pans, OEM headlight cowlings

OK, probably have a set of black rims in really good spate. Just a couple small nicks from storage.

Some stuff listed now - prices OBO. Shipping extra. Never hurts to ask for that hard to find part.

* Fenders: Left: Perfect, never used. Airtec I think $25.
Middle two: OK. These are the older softer polypropylene plastic. Have holes for the rubber cable guide (have if you need one) and holes for fender extender mud flap. Silver one has a grove from a tire behind where the fork goes. Hardly noticeable when on a bike. $10 each as they also need painting.
RIGHT: sold
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb442/adidasguy/For%20Sale/fenders.jpg)

* Swing Arms: Somehow I have 6 or so extras. Most are black.

* Knuckles and dog bones

* Ignition, gas cap, (seat lock 2001+ tails) $65 for a complete set of all 3 keyed parts with matching key. (For older bikes, you can easily re-key your seat lock to match new tank & ignition)

* Rear passenger grab handles $10

* R&G Shark fin. This one requires an "L" bracket you can make. Bought extras so for sale $35
* (Dyno kit sold)

* Tachometers: Left: faded $15. Center: Good, but missing one mounting post $15. Right: Nice! $30
All need the rubber cushion ring replaced. Get the OEM one or make one.

* Speedo: Good condition and has trip meter knob. $40 (Can't believe how expensive they are on flea-bhey)

* LEFT mirror. as shown. $25
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb442/adidasguy/For%20Sale/left_mirror.jpg)

* "F" fairing and all clips & front bracket. Lower painted fugley black. Top is still original black. White mark is a paint scrape from a wall. has flush mount turn signals. Mirrors extra as many people use different mirrors. $200 obo
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb442/adidasguy/For%20Sale/f_fairing.jpg)

* Pair of "F" mirrors: $50 obo

* "F" Tail plastics: all tabs there. Was painted fugley black. $50 obo

* Reflectors: Plenty of them. Cheap. Also reflector brackets.

Got a seat cowl for an 89 gs500e?

I'm interested if you have a full set of bar ends that have the rubber bushing so they can be installed without the internal nut in the bars.

Also, just in case I can't fix my tank, is it possible to install the newer style tank and seat on a 89'-00' bike?  Any issues with things not fitting?

EDIT: After looking at pictures, I think a more appropriate question might be what issues are there :).

I might also be interested in a full set of reflectors.  PO took them all off, and if I want to return to close to stock I might as well get some.  How much for this?

Got it all. Decide if you want the tank. If so, we'll put together a package and all can ship in one box.
Tank seat bracket and other stuff is same between old & new tanks. I leave the tank fuel valve on because it is working and if you remove one, you need new gasket and rubber coated washers. Easiest to leave that on the tank. Its clean inside. Just buff the outside and remove the fugley sticker.

Thanks Tomb.  I don't want to jack this thread at all, but I did have a random thought.  I wonder if you could take an old seat and a new seat and hybrid the two together and get it recovered... My father-in-law is an upholsterer, and does a lot of bike seats.   If anyone has a both types of seats laying around that need recovering anyway, I might try it out for the fun of it.

To do what I want to do with the seats, what I really want are farm fresh/junk yard material seats for free.  Otherwise, not worth investing.

Sorry - I don't deal in junk.  (http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb442/adidasguy/Videos/moon.gif) I deal in used parts that some people may think is junk. Even the cats haven't ripped up any seats, though they have put muddy kitty paw prints all over them and scratched the paint twice. They won't sit on them when I'm around. They only ride at night.

I've got the older springs (89-2000?), and the newer ones, which are better than older ones (2004+?) that I took out of the forks. Sorry, no spare Sonic's or progressives.

BELLY PANS: None at the moment (as noted in the posting).
Gimbel headlight cowling: comes un-painted. Made of fiberglass.

OK. Not much interest in fairing yet.

I have had questions on other parts and seem to have lost one about a white NOS wheel rim.
People may have to remind me what they're looking for. Getting senile in my old age or it is just blond ditziness.

Reflectors: threaded - yes. Also there is an extender that screws on the back to they fit on the GS forks. I also have 2 pair with metal bands for mounting around the fork leg.
Center stand: Yes, with all hardware. Trip meter knob: yes, I have one. Saved it from a trashed speedo after I read all the postings last year about people needing one. Even have the screw for it! Those knobs are rarer than the blue high beam plastic cap.

I'll pull the parts tonight. PM with offer and I'll either accept or say your loony. Hate setting prices all the time since everyone has different budgets and financial situation. Just be fair. I always try to ship next business day after getting payment.

Grabbed complete center stand. Trip knob. Left 06+ controls.
have to see what can be spared in tail centers for 89-00. These suckers are the 3rd hardest part to find (behind trip meter knob and blue cap). I can't remember how many people are selling left and right but no center. I tell them I'll but all if they can find the center. nada. Zip. No findie.
Someone asked about a white NOS rim but can;t remember who.
I am making notes on 01+ tank on an 89-00 frame. Pretty simple.

Title: Re: Gotta clear out lots of parts Updated Mar. 19
Post by: adidasguy on March 20, 2012, 10:02:31 AM
It mounts below the swing arm. Purpose is to keep toes out of the chain and sprocket when racing & dragging your foot.
I think they look cool. Helps keep hands out of sprocket when rotating wheel & cleaning & lubing the chain.
Mounts on an "L" bracket you have to make out of piece of steel or aluminum or you could screw to side of swing arm. Could also mount on a flat piece screwed to the inside of the swing arm.

It is universal - can go on any brand to model of bike.

I have one remaining. Not perfect. Seems to have been recovered. It looks pretty good. A couple blemishes as you can see. No tears or rips. Material looks fresh and soft. Missing a couple bumpers. Can't locate any spares right now but you can move bumpers from your present seat. Shoot an offer.

I may have one. There's one on the shelf earmarked for the UW Husky build. I have a blue fender coming in that has one. So in a week or two I might be able to spare one.

Seats gone. Working on the fairing.

I have WAY too many swing arms. Some may have to go to metal scrap yard.

Clutch cable going out.

Still lots of stuff. Including all the bolts and axles including engine bolts and spacers. Lock sets. and other stuff.

Seems nobody really wants the fairings. I'll pull the headlight and ebay it. Ebay the front bracket, flush mounts, lock set.  Probably ebay the rest for whatever I can get.

Just ask.

You don't happen to have front/rear rotors and sprockets w/bolts do you?

I purchased some new wheels and I'm having a hell of a time getting the sprockets and rotors off my old wheels.  I've got them soaking in PB Blaster, but I've got a strong feeling they're not coming off anytime soon..
Title: Re: Gotta clear out lots of parts Updated April 5
Post by: adidasguy on April 05, 2012, 10:03:00 PM
I have a supply of good OEM rotors. I have plenty of rotor bolts, too.

The sprocket is on the cush drive. That just pulls off, move the rubber bumpers to the new wheel and push the cush drive on. So you shouldn't need a sprocket. The cush might be stuck in the rubber bumpers. Grab the sprocket and wiggle until the drive comes off. There is a spacer inside it. Remember to put that in.

Ah, sweet.  I'll do some extra pulling then, as the sprocket itself looks to be in good shape.

I'll more than likely be down for a set of rotors though, as it's really hard to get any extra leverage on those allen heads.

Also, I got the carb boots in today and swapped over, so I'll be shipping them back to you soon.

I have a few around. Let me see what's good. Shipping might be an issue as I see you're in Canada.
Tried ebay.ca?

No heads on ebay... one whole engine, and cyl jugs only.

If shipping to Canuckistan is an issue, I have a mailbox just across the border in Eureka MT. Let me know!

MT would be easier for shipping. But why MT? There are better desolate places to have a post office box  :icon_rolleyes:
Isn't that a day's ride to Seattle? Get some monkey butt powder and come pick one up.

I've got a long list of parts to fetch tonight and some cleaning up to do for work on Junior. In the process, I'll look at the heads and take the head off the engine with the bad timing pickup index pin hole. Might as well part that engine since I bet I need tranny parts for Junior.

Why not 2 and have a spare? Do you need the spacer for fork mount on newer forks or do you want the metal band that wraps around the fork or just the reflector?
Probably can go in a padded envelope so $5 should cover it.

I see you have a 1991? It uses the rectangle reflectors. 2004+ uses the round ones. How would you mount the round one? Or are yu talking about a different bike?
is the rectangle mounting bracket on thel ower triple there or gone? There is a difference between left and right. The picture you posted shows it has a left reflector so I assume right side rectangle?

What color bracket? Silver or dark metallic?

Actually it's for Lidiya (user on this forum) which so happens to be my wife.  She's got a 2007 f.  My bike is all set, minus normal mirrors.

I've had a lot of parts come and go. I need to step back for a few days and sort everything out to know what I have. I know I have some ASV brake levers but not sure of inexpensive stock brake levers.

No touring windshields.

I do have all the parts for a fairing except the main front bracket. If you can point me to the exact part number on a parts diagram I can drop it and the bolts in the mail for a couple dollars.

Trying to get caught up on parts requests. I've been kind of out of it due to Junior. Now that I've moved to phase 4 or something like in the 7 steps of grief (yes - we do grieve when a bike dies) I can get back to parts.

If I've ignored you, or seem to have ignored you, please PM me and PLEASE include something in the title of the message other than "(No subject)".

I found one. I have plenty of screws for fairings. I think I'm out of spare plastic clips. I'll have to dig and see if I can find some in the box of unsorted stuff.
I can do bracket and screws for $6 mailed.

No broken pistons or rods. Sorry to tell you that Junior's problem was not a broken piston. It was the counter balance bearing.

I've got what I consider junk knuckles (the steel ones - I only use the cast aluminum ones). have a KAT or something handle bar setup not needed. Couple old chocks. Couple swing arms (there are your legs - they'll be straight rarher than gaay (that's a joke)). Some knuckle - Kat I think - that I don't need and can't get rid of. Probably some other metal stuff I'd be throwing away (half a frame?)
