Title: None start when hot
Post by: geffd on March 05, 2012, 02:59:45 PM
Got a 2001 GS500 K1 - apart from the noisy timing chain which a new tensioner didn't fix, I have noticed a problem that only seems to happen when i shut the engine down when hot and then attempt to start, a couple of times he just wouldn't start usually for about 5-10 mins then starts at the press of the button. has anyone come across this problem?

Might want to re-post this in the General section.

Not starting after running is usually an indication that the motor is overheating. The good thing is there's no cooling system to fail...the bad thing is that if the engine is overheating it's probably an indication that your timing is screwed up or your valves are way too tight. You mentioned the chain making racket. I wonder if the chain jumped?

When was the last time you checked/changed the oil?

Could be electrical? This guy had a similar problem: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=59313.0
