as a minnesotan I just wanted to point out that the trial of congressman Bill Janklow is winding down for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about this is the manslaughter trial in which Bill killed a minnesota motorcycleist while doing 72 (speed limit 55) through a stop sign.
A few fun facts about the trial:
1) Because Janklow refused to step down Saying that basically being on trial for killing someone would in no way affect his ability to be a congressman. So guess who is picking up the bill for his defense?? the government or us :x :x :x :x :nana: :x :nana: the taxpayers
2) Janklow has bragged for years about his scores of unpaid speeding tickets and how he had no desire to ever slow down (this was to the state legislature)
3) Finally his defense is based on the claim that he had a diabetic reaction right before the stop sign but the EMT claimed to see no sign of it after the accident and For a diabetic in need of sugar it seems strange that he would not eat the candybar given to him by the paramedics
A little scary it could of been me and a little aggrivating that I have to pay for his defense
:x :x :x career politicians!!!! This guy is a real scumbag, i hadn't heard about his defemse. I hope he tosses many salads in jail.
I know. What a scum bag
Actually, Bill Janklow is a SSouth Dakota representative. For those of you not aware, part of this major contraversy is the plethora of prior moving violations that miraculously got wiped from his record. It seems pretty funny that the Sturgis bike rally brings so much to the economy of his state, yet he seemed to forget that when he was driving like a moron and killing an innocent cyclist. Whatta F _ _ _ er :nono:
yeah last time i had a diabetic incident, (wrecked truck into tree, weird thing, impact point 10ft off ground level :o )first thing they did was to infuse me with sugar. ) then i lost my dl took 3 years to get back. this f :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns: r, openly admits to this and many other incidents :guns: :guns: :x :guns: , on a positive note, the biker finally wins one though, even posthumously :( i hope this sob rots with guilt in jail, my luck hell probably get no time at all :x :x :x
I agree, that is just effin' WRONG. :x :guns:
If the victim's mother is still alive, make him apollogize and explain to her why her son is dead.

To be fair, do you know anyone who has regular diabetic reactions?
My wife is diabetic... Just try to get a diabetic to eat something when they have a reaction... My wife will deny she has a problem even when she's about 2 mins from a comma because her sugar level is only at 20. BTW, normal is in the 70-120 range for healthy people.
Not defending the A-hole politition... but IF he did have a reaction, he may not have known what he was doing. Only way to tell would be if the EMT used a meter to check his blood sugar level.
From his past record alone, he should have his driving privalages revoked though...

shaZam!!!!! He should have his anal virginity revoked in the county jail!
just some updates on the trial
now the defense is claiming that a heart medication he was on sped up his blood sugar being lower
only when he told the emt's what meds he was on he didn't mention any heart meds
the defense claimed that this oversight was due to signifigant head trauma suffered during the accident
except a state trooper video show a very lucid janklow giving detailed directions and an account of his day
also the medical doctor claimed that his diabetic reaction was possible onlyif he had not eaten anything all day (which is what janklow is claiming) but if he had eaten anything at all he would reverse his opinon
rebutal witnesses are being called monday and then it's up to the jury :guns:
Diabetics have never been more in control of their disease than they are today. Insulins are superior to those available even 8-10 years ago. The biggest advance in control is with blood glucose meters. They are easy to use and extremely accurate. Some are so portable, they can fit in a shirt pocket, like a pen.
There is absolutely no valid reason for the courts to accept the alleged "loss of diabetic control" as a valid defense. Janklow is an educated man. He has managed his diabetes for years. He has a responsibility NOT to have a lapse in diabetic control (if that is really what happened...nothing has been medically documented yet.) ESPECIALLY if he knows he will be driving.
Maybe he believes that the concepts of personal responsibility and accountability do not apply to him.
Meanwhile, an innocent man is dead.

ILMAO
But seriously, I remember watching his first news conference after being released from the hospital. Not once did he show any remorse for the victim or his family. Heck, the whole meeting was about himself and how his injuries were not going to affect his continuing service in office. All he kept saying was poor me, look at my injuries, Boo Hoo Hoo. He is a conceited A**Hole to the max :guns: :guns: :guns: .
I honestly think the majority of politicians have good intentions when they start serving the people, but once they are in they won't admit to any wrong doing, they end up serving their own greedy pockets, they get a huge retirement pension on our behalf to boot :x :x :x, and they won't step down for nothing.
God bless the victim and his family.

i have and yes i 100 percent agree with you. i got extremely violent with whomever was trying to get me to eat. i actually fought with a rather large county deputy, got away with it though. the ems people gave me an iv infused me that way plus they tested my sugar levels and i have insisted i was "ok" when in effect i was 21 on the meter, (damn near death) also been as high as 1512 (also damn near death) not pleasant :nono: if they (ems did not test him :nono: , or the hospital :nono: :nono: , id begin to wonder about the healthcare system in that state :dunno:
im thinkin bike parade at his next campaign stop. :dunno:

Glad to hear you pulled out of that. I've never seen a number that high. My soon-to-be ex-wife is a diabetic and have sen some wide ranges...but not that severe.
And this just in... the jury came in with the verdict, and he IS guilty. Now let's see how he escapes with a slap on the wrist and a scolding by Congress.
Hehe, I didn't think I would be first with the news!
i guess it's hoping against hope, but it would be great if he received the same punishment that anyone else would get for doing something so irresponsible!!!!!
man, I'm glad he was found guilty. We need to start holding politicians personally responsible for their stupidity.
GUILTYGUILTYGUILTYGUILTYGUILTYGUILTYGUILTYGUILTYGUILTYGUILTY
While he may get a slap on the wrist :x :x :x :bs: :bs:
His political career is over :) :) :) and the soon to be filed wrongful death civil suit should wipe him out. His lawer fees alone should break him since he's now not in congress we won't pay for this.
Oh and with all the hell's angel's in prison after the recent sting there should be plenty of pissed off bikers in jail
DONT DROP THE SOAP
