I have a pair of these I'd like to install on my GS500:

Does anyone have these installed on their bike already and could give me a few pointers on how to proceed. If the brackets aren't exactly a right fit, then what would be the next step to fit them correctly?

First, is this an E or F model?
If a naked bike, they look like they slide down over the top of the forks. Unbolt the upper and lower triple bolts holding the forks on and drop them below the upper mount to slip those brackets on. You'll likely need to remove your front wheel and caliper.
No idea about the faired bike.
Easier:
Loosen the 2 top triple bolts.
Remove the stem bolt screw.
Lift off the top triple and the top plate.
Drop in the brackets.
Re-attach the top plates. Tighten the stem bolt first followed by the top triple screws.
This was how I put the headlight brackets on Phenix after I put the forks on and realized I forgot the headlight brackets. I found this easier than completely trying to drop down the forks. To drop the forks down, you MIGHT have to undo the speedo cable and the front brake line. Plus you have to lift up the front of the bike.
While you have the top off, you COULD lift the front 1/2 inch - enough to expose the lower steering bearing and shove some fresh grease in there. Be on center stand and have someone push down on the back of the bike - that's enough to finger paint some grease in the lower steering bearing.
Those look like they would install without having to lower the forks... appears to be a hinge on them to go around the top tube. Just pull the screw and install.
The real Q is their inner diameter. I'd have some strips of rubber handy to make up the difference... bike innertube will do in a pinch, other harder rubber material should be available at the hardware store for weather stripping / shimming and like, to make up any difference in diameter. Also will protect scratching the chrome on the tubes (rust formation point.)
Before you tighten everything up, install the headlight (loosely) and try to tighen things up gradually. I expect you'll be doing some bending of those bits to get it all to fit right.

Yea, they do look hinged. Easier than stock ones to put on.

Easiest way:
Remove the screws near the loop that wraps around the fork tube.
Separate the two pieces.
Place large piece on fork tube.
Insert tab on small piece into slot on large piece.
Replace screw.
