Title: yet another rejet thread. 09 o-ring question
Post by: Roxtar on March 10, 2012, 12:38:29 PM
I'm almost done with my rejet. I've been basing my work off of the haynes manual and this:
http://www.angelfire.com/mt2/mikesgs500/rejetting/

well, according to that link, there is an o-ring that you're not supposed to lose when you pull the caps off. I didn't see that o-ring at all, and I can't find it in the parts catalog for the 09 or the 04+ US models

did I lose an o-ring or not?

is this the one u mean?

if so, here is a cheap alternative if u can wait for shipping or if there is a harbor freight nearby.

the smallest ones in the box work perfectly.

yeah, that one... but my carb doesn't look like that

you can where that o-ring might go, but there isn't any tube running into it like on yours.

Don't sweat it mate. The +04 carbs don't have the O-ring there.

Please refer to this thread: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=58650.50

I don't recall him saying what year the bike is but those are definitely newer carbs.

in the first post he says his bike is either an 01 or 02
the 02 carb lists a big fat o-ring there
http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/model_years/4126-suzuki-2002--gs500/assemblies/124743
so does the 04 non-us
http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/model_years/4436-suzuki-2004--gs500f/assemblies/124926

but the 04+ us does not, same goes for my 09.

however, If i run into issues when it's all put back together, i'll try putting an o-ring in that space.

I was wondering the same thing on my 2009..."Where is that O-Ring?"  There isn't one tht I can tell.  There looks to be a silver plug where earlier carbs had an opening.

I have had my carbs apart 3 times, and never any issues without an O-Ring.  You should be good to go  :thumb:
