Title: Foam?
Post by: Kijona on March 10, 2012, 07:00:13 PM
My 97 decided to drop a nice chunk of PINK foam on the ground. I was looking at it and saw a fairly decent sized piece of foam sitting under it. I inspected the bike and found it originated from around the top of the rear shock. There's also bits of it still attached to the piston on the bottom.

My question is...did I need this? LOL

Presumably it's to prevent or at least cushion the shock if and when it bottoms out. Mine was all dry rotted.

Unless you weight 30+stone, or jump it off curbs all the time, it should be fine without that foam.

Mine has no such foam in the shock and i have not managed to bottom it out yet. (Even with me 13stone, and a pillion 10stone and about 20kg of luggage)

1 Stone = 14LB or 6.35KG

Thought i'd share...been a while since I had heard that unit of measurement
