Title: 2002 GS500 27K miles - 2500 OBO
Post by: NickyNumbers on March 13, 2012, 07:11:52 PM
2002 GS500 I purchased about 3 years ago from a dealer down here in Jersey.

http://youtu.be/k5anpRmD4ng    -  Youtube video of how the bike sounds.

It had been dropped when I purchased it.  I replaced the exhaust as it was pitted with a brand new V&H.  Sounds great.

Also replaced the right side cover.  Replaced valve gasket, exhaust gaskets, few other minor ones that were weeping.  No leaks now.  Added a K&N lunchbox filter.

Rejetted the carbs to accomodate for the new exhaust and lunch box filter.  Unfroze the needles, cleaned out the float bowls, set the correct height, put in new allen bolts (thanks buddah) in the float caps.

Added a rear gel set, last one from a company in France.  Seat is very very comfortable, looks great and is easy to clean.  Cost me 300 new, plus shipping from Europe.  Had to return my core,  believe me, this was PRICEY.   But well worth it.

Bike has two new tires I bought in July and has about 2-3k miles on them.

Bridgestone Battlax BT45 Sport Touring Rear Tire - 130/70-17

Bridgestone Battlax BT45 Sport Touring Front Tire - 110/70-17

The tank does have a few rough spots, no dents but some pitting.

Oil was changed over the summer with a new filter.

Chain is about a year old, regularly lubed and cleaned with Dupont products, the good stuff.

Left light on the gauge does not work, right side does.  Could be replaced easy with LED's, just haven't had time to get around to it.

So I arrived at the price by calculating the base cost of the bike, which I estimate with no upgrades and no new tires to be around 1400.  Add 300 for the exhaust, another 500 for the seat, another 225 for the tires (forget my own labor to balance and mount them) and a few other extra goodies I'll throw in the mix like......

a new set of progressive springs!!!

Had a set in, took them out to experiment with the stock springs and didn't change them back when I gave them to a friend.  Got another set and never reinstalled them.

Also.....

Battery tender connecter and a free E-Z pass holder for the bike!!!!

The bike is located in Fort Lee, NJ.

I WILL NOT PART THIS BIKE OUT.  Don't even ask, not happening.

I love this bike but I want a speed triple.  I've only ridden 500CC bikes and under my entire life and I'm approaching 30 (riding since I was 13/14).   Its time I upgraded to something a bit bigger.

Forgot to add, also a GS500 chain guard made by Addidasguy, its good quality and looks great but I left it at my office and forgot to install it.

price is pretty steep for a 2002 with 27k on it.

nada average value = 1700, with low being ~1300

i'd suggest selling/trading the aftermarket parts, reverting the bike back to stock and selling it for a more reasonable price.

just my 2.. good luck with the sale!
