Looking for an 18 tooth up front. Can't seem to find one stateside. Can anyone help?
Why not just get a smaller rear sprocket?
I haven't checked for myself, but www.sprocketspeciallists.com have just about anything.
Here you go, http://www.ebay.com/itm/390397072128 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/390397072128)
Hope it clears the gear shift shaft. Let us know what you think of it if you try it :)
EDIT: Wrong size
I seriously doubt it will fit. A 17 tooth is TIGHT

Looking into it a bit more, according to SAFE-T in this thread http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=52610.msg602384#msg602384 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=52610.msg602384#msg602384) an 18t sprocket will fit.
Not sure if it's a great idea but interested to hear how it goes :)
Ok the sprocket is ordered. I'm going to give it a shot. I do a lot of highway riding so we will see how it goes.
Thanks for the link ~ the 18-tooth AFAM sprocket I bought from Bayside Performance is no longer available.
I am now running an 18 tooth front sprocket and 37 tooth rear with the standard chain. The 18t front has only been on 2 days and I have covered 507km with it. I like the feel of it as it has given the bike much longer legs. It was not a big step for me this time as I have been running 17/37 for about 12 months but it is a lot different to standard gearing. At an indicated 100kph/62mph I now show 4250 rpm. When new/standard it was 4900 at the same speed. The part number is JT565.18 and I got it on Amazon. It does not have the collar needed for the later bikes (mine is a K9) but I have just used two 26mm ID aluminium (aluminum to you guys) sump plug washers and it works a treat. They have stock. It cost me $22 including freight to Melbourne, Australia.
Good luck, :thumb:
