i accidently stripped the bolt hoes on my cylinder head of my gs500f after checking the valve clearance. i'm at college at the moment while my bike is at home and i was hoping if someone knew the time sert kit size i would need to fix the threads. its the rear middle and left bolt hole :o
Do you have a part diagram of which bolt holes you stripped?
I have a helicoil kit that I can sell to you for that rear middle bolt if it's the one I'm thinking of. It's M7x1mm. I believe the other bolt you mentioned is one that threads into the camshaft journal cap. You shouldn't helicoil this with the cap on the bike because you are going to drop shavings into your head. I don't remember if it's the same size threads as the other one. You could possibly also get a replacement journal cap instead.
Also note, if you take those journal cap bolts out, be extremely careful with them and use a torque wrench to put them back in. They will snap if you over tighten them. Learn from my mistakes.

yeah i was trying to replace the cap but i cant find a diagram on a website that sells that particular piece :(
If you were just checking the valve clearances, you had no reason to get into the 2 threads that you pointed out on that diagram. The 4 is where the camshaft journal cap bolts in, and the 14 is where the nut that holds the head down goes on.
Are the bolts that got the threads stripped number 3 and 4 on this diagram?

Looks like they are both M7x1. I paid $33 shipped for my M7x1mm shipped. I can sell it to you since I only used one coil for $20 shipped.
yes those two!
Send me a PM if you want to buy my helicoil kit for $20. You need a 9/32" drill bit and a tap bit handle would be good, but not completely necessary.

The caps are not available separately from the whole head itself (because of the way they are machined, they are matched to the head. Replacing them separately would lead to damaged cam bearing faces).
So yes, use Helicoil to repair the threads and a torque wrench to reinstall bolts. :D
