Title: Normal idle rpm range
Post by: Merc110 on March 22, 2012, 07:11:54 AM
Hey all,

Having a little issue with my 06 gs500F. When I start it on full choke it automatically shoots up to 5k rpm, which seems kinda high to me. as it warms up I take the choke off and it settles around 1500-2000 rpm. Also when I am riding and slow down the rpms will stay high and takes a few seconds to come back down. Also does this sometimes while im at a stop. Just wanted to know is this normal for this bike?

whats mods/work have you done to the bike.

high idle with choke just means your engine is warmed up.

floating idle sounds like a lean condition.

idle rpm can be adjust on the carb (won't matter if you have other failures causing the high idle)

Yes, normal, severity of issue determines what needs done if anything.

Read up on "floating idle" in FAQ.
