So took some time over the..."winter" :dunno_black: and painted my bike. Took way longer than i wanted it to but it still came out somewhat presentable...

I'm still working on the matching tank. Trying to get enough coats of clear on there to withstand possible petro spillage

So.... what do you guys think?
Is that extended swingarm ...
BTW its not really a valid average bike unless it is in KenDoll's basement and we get hammered and screw up something and make the kenDoll scramble to fix it.
Cool.
Buddha.
Not bad except for that orange horseshoe on the side. :nono:
hang on, buddy. :nono: That's the best part.
@buddha yes it is. I only went 4 over instead of 6.... and shaZam!! Hit him up. I still need to adjust the valves and also figure out my popping problem. I think the carbs might need a little tinkiering after the heat wrap on the exhaust....
For the clear on the tank, use Spraymax 2k Clear. Gas won't touch the stuff.
Where do i get tha?

What you mean 4 over - over bore ?
Cool.
Buddha.
4" over on the swinger.
Thanks Tomb!
Why put and extended swinger on a GS? :dunno_black:
Is there a GSXR 1K motor spooned in there somewhere that I cannot see.........
It changes the geometry of the bike to make it more "cruising friendly".
Average, 2 things come to mind now that I think about them.
One: have you swapped your rear shock yet? Because the extra leverage will really soften up the rear.
Two: keep an eye on your chain free play. Too much space between sprockets can make the chain flail around. They do make aftermarket chain tensioners though.

I would think that having the sprockets too close together would create more free play in the chain, and allow it to bounce around more. If you move them further apart, you'd be taking out the slack, increasing the tension and reducing the chance for the chain to bounce around...kinda like having a loop of string around a couple of pulleys.
It looks to my inexperienced eyes that there might be too much slack in the chain on the bike.
Maybe that wasn't clear.........you are correct about moving the wheel back tightens the chain. But all chains require slack to compensate for rear suspension travel. So there are 2 limits: tightest and most loose . With 4" added to the swingarm, you are giving the chain more slack. Does that make sense?
FWIW, I have a bike with a 4.5" extended swinger (and no tensioner yet). So I'm not trying to chastise Average.

+1
It looks a little slack but in all honesty, you'd have to see it with someone sitting on it. With that extended swing arm, the extra travel might tighten it up just right with weight.

Oh swingarm, jeeze dude, I now have to pretend I dont know you. WTH man, I think I am gonna wear a mask @ our next kenDoll basement bash ... I cant be seen working on a estended arm ...
However I must admit, it is really hard to notice ... I didn't even see it big rich told me.
OK its all big rich's fault. He made you do it right ... yea I know he made me do horrible things too, like put a rephased xs motor in my GS frame etc etc. Bad influence he is.
Cool.
Buddha.

Ha! Buddha, the first thing you said was about the swinger! I get blamed for enough stuff already..........
Re-phased XS motor, huh? Have you had a chance to run it yet? I've heard people love that motor after that.........

Thanks Big Rich, that makes sense. I didn't think about the travel taking slack out of the chain. When the pivot point for the swing arm is directly between the sprockets, the chain is going to be the tightest, so...yeah...after thinking about the geometry of the set up, it makes pretty good sense. :thumb:
Let's keep in mind that it was on the centerstand in that pic so.... But yeah I went 4 because i felt like six would look like ten on the GS. Most people don't even notice. She seems to have a "last word" now since i wrapped the exhaust(pop after i turn it off, Oh Buddha!) And just so you know im not the only GSer with an extended swingarm on here...and im not talking about Jim either ;)

Yes, the stock shock has been gone for almost 5 years...still looking for the "eye candy" that Buddha promised me....

lol
Well. i wish i had gone with the clear that Big Rich mentioned. No sooner as i switched the tanks out i get a drop a gas on the tank and there she went. Noticed some play in my chain and decided to adjust that before i secured the tank...well you can imagined what happened when i pushed the bike off the center stand. Can you back to the drawing board on the tank?
