I almost like it. It is interesting, but something puts me off and it is the 500 frame. Too much box section all around, something you'd never see in a British sporting single or twin. If he'd started out with a GS400/450 E or S frame he would have nailed it.

I kinda like it - but there's something about it that turns me off.......not so much the frame as the tank I think.
I've never seen spokes on a 500 though!
Actually to cafe a bike, a GS may be the ideal candidate, but that tank is just wrong. They could have just left it as is.
Cool.
Buddha.
Spokes are the proper wheels for any cafe racer.
Looks almost like something Roland Sands would build. I like it
Mine, on the other hand, is gonna be the GS500 ST edition (Sportish Touring-ish) :icon_mrgreen:
Those spoke rims are awesome! Where can I get some.

I agree I dont like the tank but to each their own.

You know what bike is perfect for a cafe project? TU250X... I will wait a bit longer for prices to plummet. Great bones on that little bike.
Strange looking on the tank where it comes out over the frame. I think the frame should have gone black, gold, or silver. The red seems out of place and puts too much emphasis on the frame. I love those wheels though, and the cafe tail was executed very well.

The wheels are the best part, they look fantastic. Agreed on the frame... black would have been better. The exhaust is pretty neat too, even if the chrome is a bit over the top. Less shine would have looked better IMHO. I don't know... good effort and close, but no cigar.
It is not pleasing to the eyes because the frame, tank and rear seat lines don't flow together.

Plummet, I doubt it, the 250's seem to be skyrocketing due to their "good on gas" reputation.
Cool.

I think it is just the frame that messes it up. If the frame was charcoal or black I think it would have given it much more appeal. Love those wheels.

Photoshoppers step in. I'm having a hard seeing it good in a dark color. Something about the frame with an upper angle compare to traditional horizontal cafe frames.
He also appears to have no turn signals...
Sure, that's legal. :bs:
Maybe hand signals are perfectly legal in Spain?
Either way.......it's a cafe! Shave the weight off and go.
that's one sexy cafe gs! i like, red clashes hardcore, but still i feel it fits.
love the way the tank was made, give the bike a much more level cafe profile
turn signals - here in Virginia we make everything illegal. yet somehow we managed a law that states if the moto has front it requires back signals and visa versa, but if it has no signals its perfectly legal :cookoo:

WTF?
Why so many haters on a decent project? :dunno_black: Who gives a crap if the frame should be a different colour or the tank doesn't match right it still looks a hundred times better than most of the other GS projects I have seen on these forums.
Someone has taken a plain old GS and turned it into a head turner. The creator needs to be congratulated. Thanks to the OP for posting.
i like the bike over all, not a big fan of gold with the other colors. Sweet rims, and i like the duel exhaust.
Twisted, you're right: there's some great work that went into that bike. I didn't mean to sound as if I disliked it.
I'm very curious as to what hubs they used though.

I know a guy who stuck Ducati Sport Classic wheels on a Bandit. They would not be cheap but can be made to fit.

Man thats close to the build i am doing.
Except im going to keep the rear end.same color scheme though.
I wonder what gold paint he used....

Damn, that's the best looking Bandit I've ever seen.
That GS is friggin awesome. The vision, the work that went in to it. Farking brilliant effort from the fellow(s) who did this. Bag fulls of kudos to you...
To those who need to find some tiny small thing and pick on it to drag the entire thing down... piss off the lot of you... bloody haters. Jealous haters. Let's see you do better.
Man, that GS looks the stuff alright. Why spend double the money on a Bonnie or W800, when you can get a project GS and cafe it the right way and NOONE will know what it is when you ride by. WE all know it is a GS but noone else will.
Top effort that bike :thumb: :thumb:

i am interested in which hub they used as well. emailed the shops email, and didnt get much info. he was stoked on the compliments on the cafe, and said that the wheels were from a supermotard and they made custom axles.
i got a drz not too long ago and have been reading of people putting gs wheels on the drz400's. going to be putting some more research into it.
after seeing this build the parts bike i'm going to pick up today might be going the way of the cafe.
That's a great looking bike! I've been a fan of the cafe racer style for a while now. Great job, I love it!!

Wow. Didn't know stating our opinions made us 'haters'. It is not a help thread or even a build one where we should definitely refrain from going OT. It's like here's a bike whether GS or not..what do you think. At least that was what I thought and the OP thought because he/she said they 'almost like it'.
I don't hate it but it's not my style. Happy. :flipoff:
I think the bike looks slick, although I wouldn't have painted the frame red, personally.
More VA turn signal BS: Turn signals have to be DOT stamped, if you swap on aftermarket turn signals they won't pass inspection. So to pass inspection you have to take off your turn signals, because that makes the bike safer :cookoo:

Is it currently not red enough for you? :icon_mrgreen:
Maybe you meant black?

:icon_question: I'm not sure what you mean?
It's currently too red for me, which is why I said I wouldN'T have painted the frame red.
Black would have been nice, so would a charcoal gray, but red is too flashy for the theme.
that is fantastic!
Better than any of the customs that win the ducati monster competitions.
