Title: GS500F with Suburban Machinery Type 2 Handlebars
Post by: vxMoto on March 26, 2012, 06:03:35 PM
Anybody personally install these themselves? Is it a hard job to do? And how good do they feel? Does anyone feel it's worth the $150+ for the aggressive feel?

I really want to lower my handlebars but I'm wondering if I should do this myself. I'm also scared that if I do, I might not be able to lock the handlebars bars. Anyone got experience with these bars? Thanks~

I have SM2 bars on my 90 GSE, which has a 2007 tank.  Feel and comfortability (if that is a word) are subjective, so you'll have to try them to determine if you like them.  I will say that they are not difficult to install, and they lock on both sides just fine.

I have them on an '06. Doesn't feel that aggressive, but I'm only 5'7".  Stock bars felt too high.

I had SM2 bars on my 06 for a while. Only issue I had was some clearance by the guages. Otherwise no problems at all installing. A wrist injury forced me to go back to Superbike style bars.
