Here is the latest version of my monster gs500 theme.. ignore the horribly cluttered garage, too many ongoing projects lol. It still needs more work, rear sets need paint and swing arm. just piddling with it in my spare time. Lookin Great!
not finished painting the tank?
everything else looks nice and shiny :thumb:
flat black on tank, subframe, forks, and swingarm (when i get to it lol) i'm about ready to run the tank over with my suburban tho. its a sunday tank for sure (holy) lol. gonna save up some cash and get another. cant keep up with the leaks. Did not realize it was that bad when i got it, PO had BONDO over all the holes :2guns: so as soon as gas touched it within a day it started leaking.. but its getting there lol :)
:thumb:
ahh
yeah when u get another tank.
My opinion, be sure to try and get it as nice and shiny as the front and rear fenders.
Those came out NICE!
which is why the dull tank stands out.
doesnt look bad tho, just stands out for how good the other parts came out.
Very eye catching. How in gods name can I get a paint job like that? Did you get it done professionally? Need details.
I'm pretty sure the only thing that can add more horsepower than monster stickers is just sticking the monster lids on the side of your engine. I like it. I might have to red bull theme my bike so I can fly!
Digging the green frame and wheels. Although, the entire frame needs to be painted.
Don't see the point in slapping Monster energy decals all over it, but to each his own. :thumb:
Looks much better now with the Monster stickers. Without them the color is just, yuck
Personally, I would have fixed the seat first and got some mirrors so I could ride it legally.
Not a big fan of giving companies free publicity. But good effort for sure :thumb:
Wow ditch pickles are coming to the roads now....lol
But really looks nice. Good work.
The stickers look pretty bad to me because the greens don't match (and I hate stickers). Green on engine doesn't match either.
It's not my cup o' tea, but it's your bike. If you like it, ride it.
I like it! Always love seeing some different.
You need some black lights...
i'm all for personalization, rattle bombs, etc, but....
leaving 1/2 dozen parts with stock patina usually ends up an eye strain.
i don't wrench much (jap bikes rock) and customize with gadgets, camera mounts, and comfort details instead of eye appeal though.

Thanks for the input guys! I know the stickers don't match well in the dark but in daylight they look identical. The engine paint is the same color, but heat has gotten to it. I did this myself and the frame used to be silver. I'll try to get some daylight pics. I know it needs mirrors and a seat but my wife has cut my budget lol. I have next to nothing wrapped up in the paint. Its a work in progress. when I get more money things will get replaced. I'll try to get some before pics to give you an idea of what it looked like.
Me like.
updated with more pics of before and after, it's an improvement, the stock stuff looked like hell... can't wait for a nice new shiny black tank! mine is such an eyesore!
Can you get into the specifics? Type/brand of paint, application, primers, glosses? Cost?
I like the concept ... I call it negative paint scheme. The bike looks bright and shiny and proper in the negative on a photograph. However with matt black on the tank, I'd think a red would work better, yellow, or even blue would be a second, in fact anything but that green.
Cool.
Buddha.
Oooo paint the tank white or silver, then take a photo of it on color film, that one's negative will be your paint scheme.
Cool.
Buddha.
the tank is ugly, i know. i'm considering selling the bike, due to family emergency.. :icon_sad: hopefully i'll be able to raise enough funds to keep it..i really like the little thing.
Cost? type of paint? primer/gloss? spray gun/type/cost?

cost: dirt cheap. advance auto primer, no clear. No spray gun. Green is duplicolor grabber green engine enamel, flat black is krylon. Rattle can job. Surface prep is everything. Even spray paint can look decent, but it's far from professional. And it's longevity is probably nowhere near that of a quality urethane paint. But it's cheap and easily done. If you get bored of it you can easily do it over without much loss.
