Title: Re-upholster my seat
Post by: angelocardoc on April 01, 2012, 10:21:08 AM
Hi

Can anyone recommend a place (or person) that can re-upholster my seat?

In southern Ontario

Looking to make it more comfortable on longer rides.

Foam is too stiff and it's angle is slightly off for my comfort.

Thanks in advance.

I read there is an ATV gel seat from Walmart for like $20 that will fit perfectly under the upholstery.

as for new covering, its quite easy.

just take the old one off, measure or take it with you somewhere that sells the material you want.
maybe get a little extra in length.
wrap it around and just staple it in underneath.

Do you mean

this??? (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Stearns-Black-ATV-Seat-Cover/10727537)

or this??? (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Drive-Medical-Premium-Guard-Gel-E-Seat-Cushion/12546593)

Not liking those ideas.

Corbin is only for 2000 and older GS500's (http://www.corbin.com/suzuki/gs500e.shtml)

Russel has some nice seats (http://www.day-long.com/gallery_Sports_Bikes.html)... but nothing for the GS

Baldwin has nice stuff too. (http://www.motorbikesaddles.com/images/Saddle%20Photos/Suzuki%20V-Strom%20DL1000/Suzuki%20V-Strom%20DL1000%20Custom%20Seat%20Photo%204%20By%20Baldwin%20Motorbike%20Saddles.jpg).. but nothing for the  GS

Here are some seats (http://www.topsellerie.com/en-ca/SUZUKI-GS-500-seats-petrol-tank-covers-tank-bags-motorbike_7_156.html)...but they are across the pond

GS500 wiki is weak on the subject  (http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Upgrades/Seats)

If you are looking for someone to make you a custom seat send a PM to Jared.  He did a gel seat for my SV650 and my '01 GS   :thumb:

that corbin looks sweet. I'm almost 6' and tired of my gs bashing my balls, that looks decent. id really like a lower height with rearsets moved back.
