Title: 97 GS500 rebuild
Post by: h0d63 on April 08, 2012, 12:27:48 PM
Some problems I've come across so far.

Front Engine Mounting Bolts.

I had problems removing the engine (heavily corroded due to aluminium and steel reacting) which resulted in grinding through the spacers and drilling out the old bolt. I am now at the point where I am reassembling the bike but have no bolt to replace. I am looking a sourcing new. Does anyone know where I can get hold of bolt, spacers and nut. I was going fabricate some out of threaded bar but though it would be weak and possibly corrode like the last quicker. Any info would be most helpful.

Carb floats

Some other things I'm seeking advice on is setting the float heights in the carb it say in the service Manueline to set them at 14.6 but that to me seems wrong as it mean it leaves very little movement. Any advice?

Exhaust

It came with the nexxus full system on but it's heavily corroded to. Where might I find a pipe to come of the down pipes that will fit most standard cans.

Cheers

Pics to come.
