Been having probelms with my electrics and the DIODE?? has blown i got the wiring diaram out and its for the neutral/side stand switch.
Ive blown 2 of them and havent got anymore , there the little black cap with 3 pins on.
Does anyone know the correct name for it and where i can get some replacements , based in the uk also. Had a look all over the net but it probably doesnt help that i dont know the correct name.

Item 2 on the wiring harness fiche "Diode". Part number is 36611-38A00. Costs about £13 from a dealer but you will find one for much less in a breakers.

Yeah I know it says GSF12 but its the same part as used on the GS5.

The diode allows electricity to flow in only one direction. Maybe if you put an inline fuse right before it, it may keep it from blowing.
As I understand it, the purpose of the diode is to protect the sensitive electronics on the bike. There's a reason why they keep blowing out...you need to figure out what it is otherwise you're wasting your money.
Are you saying that they are actually popping? If so, there's something dreadfully wrong here. The diode is able to withstand a lot of backlash...if yours are popping, there is a major short somewhere.

The diode is part of the side-stand interlock circuit and there aint no sensitive electronics in there Bud. The diode allows the neutral switch to operate both the sidestand relay and the neutral light independantly of each other.....and thats it.
If it is continualy `blowing` its seeing too much current. Assuming the wiring has not been `modified` by a PO suspect a duff sidestand relay (I have seen em full of water before now, pull it out and shake it next to your ear) or an incorrectly rated or internally shorted neutral bulb. Just take them out of the circuit turn it on and see if the problem dissapears. You can also include the possibilty an earth fault on the green or the blue/black wires particulary if its taking out the `company` fuse too.
.....and dont overlook the fact there are some subtle differences in the interlock circuit between UK and USA spec bikes so be careful which drawing you refer to.
If it does turn out to be the relay PM me your address, I will pop a used one in the post to you and you can owe me a couple of bevvies :thumb:
Just an update I was talking to my uncle and when I was checking it over I just had my reg / rec laid on the ass end not attached to the frame , could that have anything to do with it ? Does the reg rec get earthen via the frame ?
It is a dual diode. Use a volt meter and see which side is blowing. Or are both sides blowing?
You have either a short in the side stand relay or a short going to the neutral indicator.
The voltage regulator/rectifier does not ground to the frame. 3 leads are isolated and go to the stator. The other 2: one goes to +12 of the battery the iother goes to the minus and is grounded to the frame that way.
If the RR is not mounted correctly, and since the side stand relay is right next to it, think about the side stand relay or its wiring being damaged.
PS: Since it is just 2 diodes in a package, in a pinch, you can hack together your own with a couple 1N4001's or similar diode.
I did havent the relays propperly mounted either i just layed down on the rear end , could this be the problem , do they need to mounted in there upright posistion?

Relays can go in any position. maybe you have things bouncing around and shorting out?
Why aren't things mounted? What happened to the mounting bracket for the RR, side stand relay and flasher relay?
Custom build so having to put things elsewear , just been to the garage and both the diodes blew on the side for the side stand , the green wire
