Title: GS500 head gasket bore inner diameter
Post by: MekaniX on April 15, 2012, 10:34:12 AM
Hi, could someone tell me what the inner diameter of the gs500 base gasket and head gasket is.

I'm putting a big bore kit in and I need a base gasket that is at least 85mm diameter around the sleeves and a head gasket that I could bore to 78mm.

Also, what is the head gasket made of and what thickness is it.

Thanks

I'm sure someone will be along to help momentarily, the head gasket and base gasket are single layer steel. In the mean time please feed us vultures the specifics of your build!

ok its a 1981 gsx400l with 4valves per cylinder.
I used the sleeves out of a gr650 and set them in my stock block, then bored to 78mm and using gs1100 pistons.

I noticed that the 500 had steel gaskets and that it's easier to work with than having cometic make me some.

It will be a gsx 540 10.5:1 when im done.

you can see the progress on the gs resources forum if you search for my username. Its in the performance section. there is lots of pics .
