Title: Front end swap
Post by: Bullfrog on April 16, 2012, 09:22:38 AM
What would I have to take care of?

Is there anything more than checking the diameter and maybe have custom stabilizers and handle bar holder rebuilt?
Actually I'm eyeing on a Honda CBR600 front end. You think it would fit?

Cheers,
Bullfrog

You would probably want to do your steering head bearings while you have it apart. I don't think they cost to much.

Don't forget fork length.  The original CBR600 Hurrican forks are a fairly easy swap because they fit the stock GS triple clamp.  The forks are longer though so you need an '89 GS style top triple mount to get the correct ride hieght.  Not sure about the later CBR600's but the forks on the '06 CBR1000RR I just picked up are a couple inches shorter than a GS.

Sounds a bit tricky. So, to avoid any problems wth a superbike handle bar,  a shorter (or same length) fork would be more suitable? Do you have any suggestions on forks other than the CBR?

@Twisted: I guess steering bearings will not be changed, cause my Suzi's only got 7,500 on the clock.

@gsatterw: thx for the link. :-)
