It was a nice, sunny day here in Seattle yesterday so I decided I'd take the bike to work. Since it was Sunday, I could park on the street for free. Found a nice, highly visible spot right in front of my building, Fisher Plaza, which is right next to the Space Needle. My shift ended at 8pm (still light out) and I go out to my bike. I try to start it and immediately notice that it does not sound right at all. Sounded like I had a major exhaust leak. I go around to the other side and bend down to inspect the header connection when I notice this:

Some low-life piece of garbage stole my spark plug!!! I was absolutely livid. I could not believe that someone could do something like that. Why the heck would anyone want to go to the trouble, carrying around a wrench, and steal a $4 spark plug??? And they only took one. God I wish I could have been there when the scumbag was doing it. What other reason would someone do this than to simply ruin someone's day? Then I did a quick internet search today and found that crackheads like to use spark plugs to make crack pipes. I guess they like the porcelain sleeve because they can heat their crack up real good bu the pipe stays cool to the touch. Anyway, as if we need another reason to hate these rotten bastards. Just figured I'd share that with guys and do a little venting. Hopefully this tweaker gets what's coming to him..
what a mofo. people piss me off. Once some jackass put a handful of sand and gravel into my moped gas tank, when i had a moped. I found out when there was sand in the engine, killed it.
I really hate those types of fuckers that do this just to ruin your day. If killing someone was legal there would be a lot of dead asshats around my area.
Did you report to the police? (as if the Seattle police would do any good) There should have been security cameras and you can get the footage if there is a police report.
Next time give me a call and I'll bring you one. I was home working on Phenix.

They don't even impound cars when people are caught driving on a suspended license. Get a ticket, back on your merry way.

and they either beat you up or kill you for no reason then get off scott free.
How dirty they are:
3 lanes on Spokane under the WS bridge going west. left lane goes straight and no left turn. Center straight or right. Right right only. Left lane closed across 4th. What do the do? Direct traffic? Nope. They stand there and give a ticket to everyone in the left lane because you can't turn left - and they have no choice. Can't turn right - only 2 lanes going north on 4th. You're screwed. Entrapment! They couldn't direct traffic and be the good guys. No sign saying street closed ahead, either.

Its not just the spark plug "dude" its people touching your property and stealing stuff. I have had a car stolen by some shithead who couldnt be bothered getting a fricken job and buying their own, only to get away with a slap on the wrist and get to go and do it again to some other poor schmuck

Yeah, it's not just a spark plug. It's rendering someone's vehicle inoperable and potentially leaving them stranded.
I did talk to the security guards and they said they'd check the tapes but I don't think they'll show anything. Even if they did, there's probably not much I could do. But I'd really love to see the guys face just in case I ever run into him.
No, I didn't call the police. What would they do? Plus I didn't have time for that.

You implied you would kill someone over a spark plug. In the end....it
is just a spark plug. I hate it when people steal my sh1t too but I would not kill them, slap em around maybe but not kill them.
I think you're taking that just a tad bit too literally
And I think you are being a little bit dramatic over a spark plug.
For god's sake it isn't just any spark plug --- it is a GS500 spark plug!

My bad. Forgive me
I think the lesson learned here is to carry a spare one. I don't but after reading this I think I will try and get one to put under the seat with the tool kit.
Was it a normal plug or iridium? Might be dealing with a high end crack head.......
Kidding if course. Sorry to hear about your bike getting messed with.

Actually you have a good point. That would be a good reason someone would snatch one but the OP says his cost $4 so I am doubting.

I didnt say I would kill them over a spark plug? I never even mentioned a spark plug? I should not have generalised I guess? I was talking about my own experience. Dont you people here read minds?? :dunno_black:

Haha now that actually made me laugh out loud. Havent done that today. Thanks
I once had my water bottle stolen on a site. Not an insulated one, just a 1.5 liter bottle from Woolies. In essence, leaving me without water. I put it down, walked around the corner to sort something out, came back and it was Gone. had a Unique lid. I asked the different tradies. Nope, haven't seen it. I friggin went off. Yes, it is Just a bottle of water - BUT - it was MY bottle, MY PROPERTY and NOONE had a RIGHT to STEAL MY PROPERTY without my permission.
As the trades packed up at the end of the day I found my bottle, cut in half. Seems the block layers had used it as a Water Scoop to keep their mud wet. I'd asked them earlier and they denied seeing it. Not only are they thieves they are also Liars!
Now to the Spark Plug... ok, so imagine for a moment I am a motorcycle thief BUT I don't know how long you'll be before returning. SO.... I take your plug. YOu now cannot ride anywhere. I hang back and wait until you arrive, see your trouble and then watch as you walk off to the auto store to buy another. NOW I have a good idea how long you'll be and can now take your bike. An alternate reason why someone would remove a spark plug, or steal a helmet left on the bike.
Michael
Nah - it was a pissed of cager.
You see - Seattle isn't really friendly to motorcycles. Our insane mayor spends all our money on bicycle lanes and painting bike symbols on the streets. Cyclists don't even pay taxes for all those bike lanes.
Combine that with virtually NO parking spaces marked for motorcycles. We have to use a full car space. That pisses off the cagers.
Yep - them nasty cagers did it.
Ha! One more thing to add to my spares toolkit! A sparkplug wrench and a plug.
On the latest Canadian Census, in response to question # 4, "Do you have any dependants?", a friend of mine replied "YES":
2.1 million illegal immigrants, 1.1 million crack heads, 4.4 million unemployable people, 901 thousand people in over 85 prisons, and 650 idiots in Parliament.
Apparently, this was NOT an acceptable answer LOL
Quote from: mister on April 17, 2012, 01:23:00 AMit was MY bottle, MY PROPERTY and NOONE had a RIGHT to STEAL MY PROPERTY without my permission.
I could be mistaken, but it's not stealing if they have your permission.
Anyways, I feel for ya. Seattle's a nice city but the cops are terrible, they just love giving people shaZam!.
Hmm, I might have to start carrying an old spark plug with me in case a crack head tries to rob me. "Hey man, just take the spark plug, there's no need to unleash the crack powers."

That is a scary good point. As far as I know most crackheads don't carry around a ready set of spark plug wrenches. On the other head, I make an effort not to know many crackheads. Note to self: Don't park around Seattle center.
Was doing a throttle body rebuild in front of this rent house I lived at awhile back. Went inside and came back to find someone took my glass and the base gasket I needed to put it back together. Nothing else, just that, and noo-oobody in sight. Had to find a parts store still open on a Sunday evening and get another gasket. Lame,.....damm crackheads.

This is a good time to purchase self-destructing spark plugs. Any time they're removed from the motorcycle...BOOM! A little pricey, sure, but well worth giving the fucker who stole it a bloody stump in place of a hand.
