Title: Upgrading my handlebars and mirrors? With Pictures
Post by: Byard on April 17, 2012, 06:12:56 AM
I have attached 2 pictures of my handbars (they dont seem to have a thread inside, looks like someone used just a straight bar of metal), could someone advise what other handlebars I could fit to my bike and if I could use some of those 'Clip on' mirrors?

Also all the other GS500 handlebars iv'e seen just have a 1 piece bar going all the way through. Why is mine different?

Thanks  :)

Any 7/8" handlebars will work on the GS.  I bought Renthal bars for mine.  Any bar end mirrors for 7/8" bars will work, they do not need to screw into anything, they have built in hardware that tightens up inside the bar ends and keeps them sturdy.

Perfect thanks, could you suggest a place to buy new 7/8" bars from?

Just be sure NOT to get the Renthal Fatbars or any bars that are labeled as being 1 1/8".  I get mine from e-bay most of the time.

Sorry I should have been more specific. Any 7/8 Renthal or pro taper bars will work. The fat bars will not unless you get the adapter mount.
