Title: Frustration with the West Coast Valve Adjustment Kit
Post by: Juan1 on April 18, 2012, 02:55:51 PM
The GS I acquired a few months back needs to have its valves adjusted.  So I put my name on the west coast valve kit list three months ago.  I've been next in line for two months now, and the guy with the kit is just sitting on it.  He hasn't logged onto the website here in over a month.

I called a local shop to see what they'd charge to adjust the valves, and they want $225.  Until Kidsixteen send the kit to me, my GS has a hanging throttle issue that I can't fix.   >:(

Try this.

Get a feeler gauge.
Get the Motion Pro valve tool (really cheap and works great)
Measure the valve clearances.
Any that are out of spec especially too tight, use the tool and take out the shim
Measure the shim and use the chart to determine what shim you need.
Order the shims you need or ask if someone has them. Maybe someone will trade or has spares.
If you have a Suzuki dealer near you, see if they will exchange shims. Mine will for a dollar. Buy a shim. Swap shims then take one back for credit.

That should get you going in a couple days.

Oh, you guys are absolutely right, and that's what I'll do.  It just pisses me off that a lack of consideration is ruining things.
